It's been a hell of a week. It really has. Between college kids coming back, Texans-who-belong-back-here visiting, trips to NYC, movies, plays, friends, parties, etc. it's been quite a string of days.
Monday was fun because Rachel came back!! She hung around school and confused Ms. Morgan and it was very fun. After school, Rachel, Hadley, Mims and I all got dinner and we got to catch up and stuff. We went back to my house then and sung showtunes around my piano cuz we're cool like that.
Tuesday was when our Independent Study rehearsal fell apart because of rain and conflicts. That reminds me--I need to reschedule that soon.... Later, Laura and Hazel came over and we watched Veronica Mars (Drinking the Kool-Aide) and some footage from Space Toaster/Progress Report. It's actually looking very good, but I'm worried about the sound because I think one of our microphones was screwy. 'Twas fun.
So, I think this is the part where I bitch about thanksgiving with my family. Actually, it wasn't that bad. I spent Thursday with my cousins, which was fun, except for me being kind of sick . After dinner, we played pool and watched the third Harry Potter movie. Miriam came over later (she was with her family in the city too), and we all went to see the RENT movie. It was actually pretty amazing. I liked a lot of the directorial choices much better than I thought I would, and same with Rosario Dawson's Mimi. I was mad that they cut out "Halloween" (my favorite song), "Contact," "We're Okay," and turned a bunch of other songs into dialogue, but I guess it worked okay. At least it managed to capture the show.
Yesterday, we drove back from NYC and after 6 hours in the car I had to get away from my family. I went to Harvard Square to meet up with Laura, Rita, and Yenarae. Laura and I went to Newbury Comics so I could use my gift certificate, which I ended up using on a Dresden Dolls concert DVD (because I'm bitter that I missed their Boston concert) and the Family Guy movie. After that, we all went excitedly into Hootenany to look for clothes that intimate us. I found a cool t-shirt and a ten-dollar belt (that only cost me $5 cuz I'm cool like that), so that was yay. I got a strange burrito craving after that, so I dragged everyone with me to Felipe's, and then to the GAP, while we waited for Yenarae's mom to pick us up, so that I could buy a jacket. I'm such a shopping whore. Then we rushed rushed to Laura's, got pizza, and rushed rushed to the movie theatre to go see RENT. We actually managed to get there on time and we didn't even kill anyone on the way. On the way, we had picked up Sara, Lycia, and Hazel. Everyone seemed to like the movie, although Hazel yelled at me because she "thought it was a happy movie."
After the movie, we picked up Emma and Hannah from Hannah's unplottable house, and dropped off Lycia at her boyfriend's, and then all went to my house. Hazel picked up Virginia and Laura's friend Nicki came over for tickle-war/card-fight/couch-orgy that was really as crazy and spontaneous as it sounds. It was very fun and I was glad I got to see a lot of people that I hadn't seen/hung out with for a while. After some people left, we decided on watching VM for Laura and then she finally took the last wave of people home, save Hazel, who slept over (which is a lot less sketchy and a lot more platonic than it sounds).
Now, I am sick I think and feeling mildly icky. Today I need to shower, go to the gym, do homework, thanksgiving dinner number 2 at my dad's and then it's random-filmed-adventure-time with Suzie and hoards of other people.
