"The sun’s rays don’t bother me.
No, they cast down such a wonderful heat,
masking beauty
by a terrible fate
If you fly too close and then you turn too late
The night still confuses me
We’d all get tired and have to sleep eventually
Regardless of the sun’s demands
Regardless if it made much sense"
Ahem. Despite the above quote, I have Angela Lansbury's "times is hard, times is HAAAAAAARD" going around in my head. Which, granted, is amusing, but a little obnoxious after the first few times.
In fact, times isn't hard. Erm....Ms. Olson would kill me for that sentences. But things are certainly "looking up" as Mr. Gershwin would say.
Our show opened yesterday, and despite a few minor technical difficulties, it went very well. For those of you who don't already know:
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
Saturday, November 5th; Thursday, November 10th; Friday, November 11th; and Saturday, November 12th.
7:30 PM at BHS
You should all come.
Today was good. It turns out I got a perfect score on my take home test for Physics that I thought I had done all wrong. I guess I do understand force. English I spent talking with Ms. Olson in Spanish, because we really had nothing else to do, and then we talked about the RENT movie (which she is apparently very excited about) and our favorite musicals--can you tell that we're the same person? I slept through most of Spanish, which made things a lot nicer. It's great to be able to sleep and just pick up little tidbits of "....Cubans....Castro....the subjunctive."
After school, I got Anna's, bought expensive tire air in Cambridge, and nearly died driving around Porter Square. I came back to school and chillaxed with Margot and Mr. Tillotson (yes, I am aware how sketchy that is) and then visited Kendra at CHENEX.
Around 7, Emma H., Bethany, Miriam, Ryah, Sam G. (the Jewish one who's not a math genius), Nick S., Ian, Hadley, Danny, Emilia, Willy, Sara, Virginia, Will, Liz, Tim, Isabella, Isabel, Paul B., Kayleigh, Michael, Tori, and possibly other people that I forget came over for a movie night. Kayleigh wanted to watch "What Not To Wear" and Emilia and Willy had never seen it so we had that on as people filtered in and they got really sketched and were like "um...why is Laura on your TV?" but they ended up liking it. We watched "Moulin Rouge", which was really fun, but not nearly as cathartic or emotional an experience as last time. But we had fun with it, and it was a good group of people in general, even though we couldn't shut up long enough to hear anything. After the movie we hung out, played Cranium, and then when it was just me, Tim, Isabella, Tori, and Hadley, I broke out the musicals and we watched a few scenes from "Kiss Me, Kate," which I desperately want to do next year.
It was a very good night, and I'm in a great mood, even though I have to wake up for scene study in eight hours. I just hope Jessica is feeling less crazy tomorrow in Broadway Ensemble.
