He'd had the notion, once, that he'd save her from all of this. From the Dollhouse and Rossum, from herself...from the law, even. He'd be her knight in shining armour, and he'd whisk her away to better days.
There were a number of things wrong with this idea. Firstly, a woman like Adelle DeWitt would never let herself play the role of 'Damsel in Distress'. There were to be no white knights in her future. She would save herself, if need be.
There were also pesky things like him being an NSA agent, and the fact that she was bad, evil, disgusting and deserved to be locked up and forced to face her crimes.
And still...the idea festered. In the back of his mind, where he'd thought he'd locked it away for good. It got unbearable at times. He'd look at her, and he'd have to force himself to stay where he was.
It was ridiculous. He was Laurence Dominic, for fucks sakes. He was not a romantic. He was not an idiot. Emotions, especially ones like love, where not to be entertained.
He was glad, almost, when his identity was uncovered and she sentenced him to the Attic. At least he wasn't acting like a complete fool and trying to take her away with him. This is better, he thought.
Too bad the Attic decided to play on this notion.
