It's ironic. Dominic was the spy, but he's not the one who's betrayed her most. She has no doubt that, had he still been here, he would be by her side-and she's a strong woman, she knows she is, but being alone in the same room as Alpha, knowing what he's capable of... It would bring even the strongest of men to their knees. Had he still been here, Dominic would have stood beside her, and she wouldn't have needed Alpha's hand up, because his unwavering loyalty would have given her the strength to stand. And that's what it was: loyalty. She knows that now. He always had her best interests at heart, despite serving two masters. He cared for her, whether professionally or not, and he wouldn't have left her to face this nightmare alone.
Still, it doesn't matter. Dominic is contained safely in her box and Boyd is... They think her so stupid, all of them. That she doesn't see what they're doing, what they're hiding from her. She sees, she knows. Echo's self-awareness is impossible to contain, and there's no way she could have survived out there without outside help.
Once again, her employees are going behind her back, but this time it is personal. Echo and Boyd and Ballard are lying to her because they don't trust her and they don't like her. Of course she hadn't believed it then, but although Dominic may have lied about his other employer, he had still wanted to protect her and this house. His being NSA had nothing to do with her. It simply was.
She knows there is nothing she can do to change what has happened. No one comes back from the Attic. She knows that. But it doesn't stop her wishing, wanting, to turn back to clock. Now, more than ever, all she wants is to have Dominic back.
