What the fuck, LJ?

In case you've missed it:
For those of you who spend time on those other social networks, we've just made it easier to stay in touch with your grandparents, forgotten acquaintances, and former bosses on Facebook and Twitter without having to leave the comfort of your LiveJournal home. To activate cross-posting, visit Account Settings/Extensions. Once you link your Twitter and/or Facebook accounts to your LiveJournal account, you can automatically cross-post entries and/or comments. Alternatively, you can choose to cross-post selectively to Facebook or Twitter whenever you post an entry or comment by clicking on the Facebook or Twitter icon beneath the text box (you must be logged into your Facebook or Twitter account on the same browser).

If I wanted my grandmas to know how much I enjoy NC17 slash fanfictions, I'd just put it on a t-shirt. Not that my grandmas are on Facebook, thank god, but still.

I won't use the feature, of course, and I've already got rid of those ugly buttons with a Greasemonkey script. But even if I don't:
- My LJ friends could crosspost their comments to my entries. With a link to my entry.
- My friends could crosspost their replies to my comments. Again, with a link.
- Anyone could crosspost their comment to an entry I make to a community. Yes, still with a link to the entry.
- Anyone could crosspost their reply to a comment I made. You guessed it? Yep, with a link.

Of course, if the entry is locked, people won't be able to read it. But what if said friend/stranger quoted part of my post/comment? It's quite common.

Now, I won't crosspost any comments. As I said, I don't even see the buttons anymore. (Greasemonkey is the best thing ever created by man.) I ask you to do the same. I hope that LJ is going to fix it. If you read the comments to the news post, you'll see people aren't happy.

The Greasemonkey script is here, in case you need it.
