I'm a fucktard

I always start my projects at 300dpi, regardless of it's end format, like a web file or whatever, at least, I used to until recently. I have a lot of clients who have me to web flyers and banners quite often.

I also do club flyers, mostly for print, but lately there's been a higher call for online flyers for their myspace, or whatever.

SO, I don't really do a print-ready one WHEN THEY SAY IT'S ONLY FOR WEB (because it's way cheaper) unless they have called for it, and paid for it. These clients usually have a rush on it, and for good reason, as they come to me three days before their event. Then, there are some clients who need them immediately, and then call for a print-ready version.

Two weeks ago a client wanted a 4x6 flyer printed for his party, and it was a crazy client. I'm talking obsessed more so than normal. I didn't do this flyer because my computer was being dumb and wouldn't turn on. Naturally, the job went to one of the other designers. THEN. A few days later, when Rich learned my computer COULD turn on, he(Rich) called for me to do a web-version of the flyer that was already made by the other designer. It was a flyer that made my eyes hurt. SERIOUSLY? The design wasn't THAT bad, but it wasn't great. There were about 4 different typefaces!!! There was no color theme, just a bunch of color thrown onto it. AND THE WORST PART?
The designer DIDN'T NAME HIS FUCKING LAYERS. I had to go through "layer 9", "layer 29" and so on. NOTHING was grouped. It was complete chaos. WHY ME?

Another note: Rich forwared me the client's doc file outline the "simple text changes" to the flyer that would become a web flyer only. I thought, hey, no problem. Simple text changes would be simple, and I'd be free for the rest of the day. The gods did not smile on me; it was not so simple. The directions in the client's document called for a complete different layout "on the same design" with a billion more text and 7 more images. Um, no.
This isn't a simple text change. This was for a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EVENT, going on the same day as the other. Okay, not a completely different event. This was actually focusing on a certain aspect of the event. The party is like an East meets West. Indians and the American folk. I didn't want to go off the design of the previously made flyer because 1. The pictures used were most definitely copyrighted (They looked like stills from a bollywood movie) 2. The design was insane. If my name was going to be on it, then it had better be good.

I made a nicer design. The client was very pleased.

This is the part where I'm a fucktard
I started the file resolution at 72. There were no indications that it was going to be going to print.
Let me explain:
The webflyer is long. It's 500px by 1200px (im guessing). The client wants to print it on a 4x6 card stock.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

It won't fit! Client- you wanted me to put a freaking NOVEL ONTO IT. Plus the pictures! AND IT'S AT 72 DPI.
Also, i'll have to charge you for the photos i'll have to REBUY but at a higher resolution.

This is my fault. I should have started out at 300, like always.

....

Rich just called. I have to redo it for print. MOTHERFUCKER.
