Coffee, he needed it now. Except he couldn’t for the life of him work out how to use the damn machine. How many levers were necessary to make a single cup? Kicking  it in disgust, Jack turned his attention to the shelf next to the machine, where there was sat a dusty jar of instant coffee. He shuddered; he hadn’t drunk instant coffee since Ianto had started working for him.

It had always been a little strange introducing him to Torchwood. He wasn’t fazed by the size of the Hub or the aliens they dealt with like the others had been. After all, he’d seen it all at Torchwood One. That had never ceased to amaze Jack, the fact that such a fresh faced and beautiful man had seen it all before, been part of such a harsh and secretive organisation. He had visited Torchwood One only a few times, but he knew that it wasn’t the easiest place to work.

“You need a coffee machine.” Ianto had announced, noticing that there wasn’t one in the kitchen.

“Why, what’s wrong with instant?” Jack smiled handing him a cup that he’d just made. Ianto smelt it and pulled a face, wrinkling his nose.

“Have you tasted it?” He laughed putting it back down onto the counter. “A better question would have been what’s right with it?”

Two days later, Jack had watched in amazement as Ianto brought with him into work two large boxes, and meticulous as ever, had watched him curiously as he unpacked them. Taking off his jacket and folding it gently, placing it onto a chair, Ianto slowly began to assemble the behemoth of a coffee machine, slowly turning each screw slowly and decisively. It had made Jack swoon even then, the sight of such a beautiful man’s face deep in concentration filling him with lust. He had remembered turning away, retreating to hide behind his desk.

Jack smiled, returning to his desk coffeeless. Despite desperately wanting the caffeine, he couldn’t bear to drink instant. Silently he cursed Ianto under his breath. That man had got him addicted to coffee and so much more.

Pouring himself some scotch, Jack looked at the time. 3am. Who had a coffee craving at 3am? He shook his head, drinking the scotch in one gulp and swiftly picking up the phone. His fingers agile as they dialled the number, he listened to the ringing tone in anticipation.

“Jack?”

“Ianto.”

“Do you realise what time it is?” Ianto groaned down the phone, his voice causing Jack to shudder.

“Yes I do. I’m sorry. Did I wake you?”

“Just a bit.”

“Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll let you go back to sleep if you want.” He paused, biting his lip.

“I’m not complaining.” Ianto’s voice softened, causing Jack to smile. “What did you want?”

“Oh……..well its stupid. The coffee machines broken again.” He said sheepishly.

“You mean you still can’t work it.”

“That too. I just had a craving and thought of you.”

“Is this a ploy to get me into the Hub late at night Jack?” Ianto laughed.

“Is it working?”

“Yes.” Ianto paused, and Jack could hear some rustling in the distance. “Shall I come over and give you your coffee fix then?”

“Would you?”

“Yes. But I’m not driving home afterwards. You’ll be stuck with me all night.”

“Great.” Jack grinned happily. “Sounds even better.”
