The Wailin Jennys

Janine wanted to go see this band (in the post title) last night at the Tupelo Music Hall, which is a very small/intimate venue the next town over from us.  Janine has hear a couple of songs through Pandora and they were both Irish sounding songs so we were expecting something like Gaelic Babes.

This however would be like if the only Stones songs you ever heard were "Far away eyes" and "Honkey Tonk Woman" you might think they were just a bunch of Shit Kicking Redneck Country Musicians, instead of one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time.

The Wailin Jennys are a country-folk bank from Canada.  Lots of excellent 3 part Harmony plus a fiddle player and the band members play various instruments through the set including Guitars, a thin stand-up bass, banjo, a mandolin, an accordian (not played like a polka) and even a ukelue for one song.

Hauntingly beautiful music even if we were expecting Irish music.
