More inSANity
After coming in to recable yesterday I can see all the disks in both Managed Storage Arrays. We just added 12 450gb disks to our storage.
Setting up two RAID 5 sets each with a hot spare nets us a spiffy 3.6 TB of usable data.
I setup each of the virtual disks (the raid5 sets) and it took two quick commands at the MSA's command line client. However, once they are "set" they have to make themselves. I've been waiting for about 3 hours now and they are only 75% ready. Maybe they'll be fully initialized before I go home.
Then I have to create LUNS. I think I will only do the one LUN for now, maybe 900gb. That's enough for 20-25 virtual machines. That ought to make the development, QA, and support teams happy.
Then when the luns are created I have to map them to the fibre ports on the blade center and finally I can create a datastore on the VMware Hosts. Hoooo boy.
