The Sohma’s lived on the outskirts of Toga, nearby one of the treasured forests. Yuki and Kyo lived with their cousin, Shigure, who is a professional writer. He has written many novels, a few not being very decent.
The walk from the Miko’s house was silent, not a word was said. Yuki didn’t know what he could say to encourage Kaiya. What happened was a major tragedy.
Kaiya hadn’t grabbed much things at her house, just enough to get her by for a while. It was Kaiya who was the first to speak.
“This is a beautiful area to live. I bet it is very peaceful.”
Yuki looked over at Kaiya and smiled.
“Indeed it is.”
They had just entered onto a dirt path, which led to the Sohma’s abode. Bold maple trees and snow white magnolia’s lined the path. Birds sang from the trees as they shuffled past. After a mile or so the dirt path opened into a clearing. Straight ahead was the house which made Kaiya pause in her walking.
It was bigger than she imagined. The front door was opened wide which allowed you to see straight through to the other side.
As they got closer, an older man came into view. He had a gentle smile on his face as he leaned on one of the beams holding up the roof.
“You must be Miss Kaiya.” The man said as they stopped in front of where he stood.
“Kaiya-kun, this is Shigure, our cousin.” Yuki said before she could answer.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, gure-san. Thank you for allowing me to stay at your home.”
“Anything for a pretty girl like you.” Shigure said while winking.
Kaiya blushed as she bowed her head.
“Come. I’ll show you to your room.” Yuki said after taking Kaiya’s hand to lead her inside.
