Last night was the night!!!
After resting all day, we made are way over to the Paramount Theatre (great venue) for The Roots and ERYKAH BADU. I had high expectations and juss about all of 'em were met!
The Roots opened up the show and they were amazing..full of energy and LOTSA talent for sure!! They played for about an hour. For those of you who don't know...Hip-Hop/Rap and live instruments together are HOT!!! THey did a full hour of their own stuff and a medley of covers...from Afrika Bambaata's "Planet Rock, & " Salt n' Pepa's "Push It" to Kanye West's Flashing Lights - YES!!! YEEEEEESSSS!!!!
Unfortunately, there was an hour long intermission between The Roots and Ms. Badu...and I have to admit I got a lil' anxious..."please don't let them come out here and tell us she isn't going on (she fell and bumped her afro...or something like that). Well once the curtain did come up, and I saw the set up...I understood why it took so long. While nothing too elaborate between the curved mirrored panels and the the instrument set up...they had their hands full.
So that I don't ruin the show fo' ya
ironchefpinoy I'm gonna stop there, but I do wanna say YOU will enjoy her early 80's b-boy remix of Apple Tree!
