寶島之旅 ~ 四

Dec 16, 2005 17:04

4 Dec, Sun
The past few days was nothing like winter. Warm & humid & sunny. Only thankfully, the humidity is still as low rendering the weather still beautiful :) But come the weekend, i was awakened in the middle of the night. There was a huge downpour!

Come morning, the weather is reminiscent of winter, finally. Chilling, cold and wet.
Sheesh. Glad i came down from the mountain. With this kind of weather, 2200m above
sea level must be torturous, especially for someone like me without too much lipids
to insulate myself... LOL

Called Ah Koon the night b4 to set a time to meet. 0900 hrs in front of the 台北火車站
的新光三越. Then we walked around looking for a place to eat my breakfast. Finally after
an hr plowing about in the quiet streets of 西門丁, i settled my breakfast and we proceed
to 晶晶書庫 over at 和平東路二段. LP gave us the wrong directions.... the nearest
MRT stop is 台電大樓 and not 古亭. We walked quite a distance.... sheesh.

Ta-Da!!!! Taipei's LGBT bookstore

Think JOX / NUM but with more selections of literary works, videos, DVDs, and stuff
that are generally banned in Singapore. Oh but their clothing apparel is much lesser
than either JOX or NUM, which is fine actually. I'm more interested in their books
& magazines anyway :) Eventually, i got infamous work of 白先勇 <<孽子>>. Haven started
yet but the few pages i read, i kinda like his literary style! Ah Koon was somewhat
less academically-inclined that morning and got some magazine or 寫真集 instead.

I do like their 'changing room' though! Haha maybe its just for show because its
exactly like a bathroom, with taps, mirrors & toilet bowls etc. And best of all,
the wall is merely glass. Meaning = a free show for everyone else. Hmmmm i guess
tats still alright if its just a tee u wanna try on but hot pants? underwear?
swimming gear? THAT would make it VERY interesting *chuckles*

公館

Left after our purchases. Then we walk to 公館 area for lunch. Nice crowd, nice shops,
nice food! So much food waiting to be tried but merely one mouth. Next stop! 信義
district where Taipei 101 resides!

Taipei 101

Wasn't impressed but still, i do like architecture and whats a trip to 台北 without
their landmark? Went to the Taipei 101 mall too. Very ritzy, very classy.
But the prices are all out of my range. Think Takashimaya 1st two floors - all
boutiques & renown brand names. Went back to my room where we had a rest. No....
not together... haha just that i was feeling feverish n decide to go back to pop
some pills. But with the chill, its really a good idea to snug into bed - with
a nice warm body of course :)

As for dinner, we adjourned to 華西街 night market. Too touristy for my taste.... but at
least we got a good deal for dinner - NT120 for a nice piping hot teppanyaki,
with soup, meat, rice & tea.

Teppanyaki

How's that for the first day of 台北! LOL
