now that i have a clear head, i'll give the ups and downs of my past week at general assembly. it was oddly a very different experience than last year's due to several things. i went with different people (not cecilia and instead elsbeth and tyler) who shed their own lights. it was really nice to be able to get to know tyler as a raw person and elsbeth as i hadnt known her before, i guess i'd say. new social situations proved awkward for all three of us, i think. but it was also very nice to meet so many new people. i love the atmosphere at GA...it's very kind and silly and comforting. it allows for things to happen that maybe usually wouldn't. people that maybe wouldnt approach eachother do because they're comfortable to do so. you just feel all of the love. besides this atmosphere, there are opportunities to become very aware of things like racism/anti-racism and anti-oppression work, global warming, equal civil rights, womens rights overseas, mass extinction, and a lot of other things through caucusing and discussing in both big and small groups of both adults and youths. it was enlightening and wonderful to be heard and to hear so many opinions. i can't wait until next year. it's too bad this sort of thing only happens once a year.
