4 am blues

Sep 11, 2005 10:12

They are back, but this time for a different cause.  Idgy is acting like a two year old child undergoing potty training.  She just won't go when we take her out. So for the past two nights, she has woken me up at 4 am barking to go out to do her business.  Its irritating.  I suppose as irritants go, there could be worse.

In the mean time, word from Folsom is that the power is on in the Village and most services are operating.  But, he Village is an island and around it not much is coming back on line.  I check the Washington St. Tammany Power COOP from time to time for updates, but their web site is down have the time.  I do know that power is flowing from the substation over by Barkers Corner and down Lee Road toward covington.  I think that's the way our power comes in, but I'm not really sure.  It may come up Highway 25 to Folsom and over, but I don't think so.  Bob tells me the lines are all up on Highway 25, but a lot are still on the ground around his house.  According to the Parish web site, WST says that 30 percent of their customers are on line and it expects to have 80 percent on line by September 24th.  Of course, that includes Slidell, so maybe we will get on line sooner.

Water is on and safe in our neighborhood.  Lee Road Water Corporation has tested safe.  So, its just down to the electricity at this point.  Meanwhile, we continue to live reasonably well in Dallas.  Mary and I went to the Galleria yesterday to look around and buy a few things we needed.  Old Navy and Champions Sports have a 15% discount for Louisiana evacuees.  Mayor Ray Nagin was seen in Nordstroms on Friday shopping in the Men's department.  He moved his family here and enrolled his daughter in school because his house on Bayou St. John was seriously flooded.

Mary signed Nanny and Paw Paw up for FEMA assitance yesterday.   We still don't know how to file their flood claim, but I'll work on it more tomorrow.

OK, so back to the office.
