Summary: Lia thought she was saved. Only to find out it was only the tip of the iceberg.
A/N: An update. Shorty, shorty, shorty chappie. ^^
Prologue and Chapter1Chapter2Chapter3Chapter4Chapter5Chapter6Chapter7Chapter8 Lia glanced at the five faces before her. They all wore very serious expressions. The type of look that a male protagonist has when the evil bastards killed his family and/or his one true love and he is now looking for bloodshed. It was THAT scary.
She surmised that her presence wasn’t really welcome. Yeah, that was probably the reason why they were looking like that.
She cleared her throat to get their attention. “Konnichiwa, minna-san. Nice to see you again…”
Liar! You have been avoiding them since Monday. Her brain countered.
“You would see us if you weren’t so busy hiding.” The tallest of them informed her with a grin. He was right dead-on.
“Brilliant observation skills you have there,” she complimented him.
“So you do admit that you were evading us, everytime we approach you?” he asked back.
“Uhm it’s more of I’m looking for a wormhole to push myself in, hoping that it’s actually a glitch in the time space continuum and that when I get out of it, a quadrillion years has already passed. That way, I don’t have to face anyone who might have known of the shame I brought upon myself,” she rattled on. Realizing what she had just said, she clasped her hand over her mouth in embarrassment.
Changmin chuckled at her lengthy explanation while the other four looked at her in amazement.
Damn Lia, you talk too much! That’s what has gotten you in this mess in the first place! She mentally cursed herself.
She chortled awkwardly at her pathetic answer. “Well, it’s kinda obvious I’m the odd one out in this table, so I’m gonna go. I feel like I’m a sixth-wheeler here.” She stood up from her chair then paused. “Wait, I sounded like a truck back there. Scrap the last part please.”
She beamed at them and said “Anyway, I’ll be going ahead. Please enjoy your lunch.”
Lastly, she looked at Jaejoong and bowed, “Thanks for the interception earlier. I promise I won’t be such a nuisance in the course of the next few days.”
She had not even taken one step when she heard someone say, “Sit down, Ms. Montez. We have something to talk about that greatly concerns you. And we can’t possibly do that when you are not here.”
Uhm, about what?
She looked back to see who had spoken and froze.
Lia wasn’t really the type of person who gets intimidated, but given his height, body built and his bushy eyebrows scrunched in obvious contempt, it was obvious that he wouldn’t accept ‘NO’ for an answer.
She realized she has no other option but to do as he asked.
Yunho must have sensed her frightened feelings or perhaps her expression said it all, for suddenly, he patted her arm. “I won’t hurt you. Calm down,” he said as he smiled at her.
Breathe Lia. He said he’s not gonna hurt you.
“On the contrary, we are here to protect you,” Jaejoong added when her expression did not change.
She commanded her facial muscles to move so that she can ask, “F-from?”
“Suzuki Masa.”
“The speaker?”
Micky was the one who nodded in reply, straightened up from his chair and started speaking, “We did a background research on him. Turns out he has multiple charges for sexual assault and harassment from his previous female staffs. Majority had been settled off court while a few are still pending in court. Given his strong political influence, it’s highly likely that he’s pulling some powerful strings to get him out of those charges…”
Micky rested his chin on his hand as he continued, “…Mind you, this guy has taste. He’s notorious for having amorous intentions for ONLY the ‘beauty-and-brains’ type. No matter how physically attractive a woman is, if they do not meet his intellectual standards, they’re off the hook…”
Lia peered at Micky curiously and at the other four pair of eyes. Before laughing loudly.
“You should have said that earlier! I’m very much safe from being his next victim then.” She continued to laugh but slowly halted as she could see that it was only her who found it funny.
Junsu, with a solemn expression, joined in the conversation. “Newsflash Ms. Montez. You DO fit his requirement.”
With a puzzled expression, she looked at him and let his words sink in.
Beauty?
Lia never thought of herself as a knock-out. She was - okay. Far from being sexy. And way, way far from being cute. Not an eyesore. Not a head-turner. She was just…okay. Although, she must admit that she pulled off being an unearthly and bewitching goth princess well during -
She paused as she remembered that Suzuki Masa was friends with the Finance Minister. He must have told him about her. He could have taken a picture of her at the K&A Anniversary without her knowing and showed it to his fellow pervert friend.
Oh my god.
She stiffened a bit but knew that there was still one more hope.
Brains?
She was a hard-worker. True. As the saying goes, whatever you lack in talent, you make up for with practice. Next Einstein? Highly doubtful. She does have guts, feisty personality and wit. But nothing indicative of being a genius. Although, she did have a fair share of public display of brainpower from time to time. The most recent one involving Suzuki Masa and that stimulus package.
Great. He must have thought that I was superbly intellectually gifted too.
With wide eyes, she incoherently mumbled, “N-now you guys are beginning to scare me...”
If what they were saying is true, then she was going to be his next victim.
Lia felt as though the air had been sucked out of her lungs. Her heart seemed to have forgotten how to pump blood to her body as she felt her hands getting cold.
She was very much aware that she would fight like hell before he could make any advances on her. But let’s face it. She was still a foreigner in a country where he, as a native, has powerful connections. And right now, she was also alone. No dad or brothers to protect her like they always did. No teammates to back her up. The odds are definitely not in her favor.
“It’s not safe for you to be alone. He could be stalking you now for all we know. Do you realize the gravity of the situation you are in, Ms. Montez?” Junsu asked her softly.
She only nodded at him.
“Ms. Montez, we know that you must be terrified. Obviously, having a dirty old man lusting over you isn’t really your cup of tea. Will you let us help you?” Changmin asked her.
Lia looked at him and let her gaze follow the faces of each one of them. She searched their features to see if they were being serious.
“W-why are you doing this? We barely know each other. I humiliated myself in front of you. I made accusations. I was even drunk last week. So far, it’s safe to say that I made an awful impression on you guys.” She voiced out her confusion.
“You’re a foreigner like us…”
“You’re alone…”
““I have a little sister…”
“You’re a girl...”
The four Knights answered all at the same time. It was a challenge to find out who said what.
Jaejoong cleared his throat.
“Because we want to… we can… and we will…”he concluded.
Lia had so many things she wanted to ask and say to them. But found that there was only one that she really needed to tell them.
“A-arigatou…hontou ni arigatou gozaimasu…”

Come on guys. You can’t possibly still hate me. Right? Right?
As Mommy Kei would put it - remember our member ai?!
Please don’t be mad anymore. *stares at all of you with puppy-dog eyes* (Tego-nyan and Massu inspired)
And well, I need to talk to you. It’s very important. I’ll tell you the details when you reply back.
Take care.
Lia ^^,
Lia rested her head on couch. Today was tiring for her. Who wouldn’t be shaken up to find out that they were next in line in the ‘To Be Molested’ List?!
At the very least, she had obtained comfort in the fact that her newfound friends in the Training were there to protect her.
But if she were to be honest, she would have preferred her teammates to be there for her.
She hoped that they didn’t hate her that much to continue giving her the cold treatment.
So far, she could only hope.
