Hey. Have you heard of Maher Arar? Yeah, I heard about it last week, too. So sue me -- I'm taking two grad classes and work's gotten hectic. If you're not pissed off about this guy getting yoinked out of an airport, "disappeared" for ten months or so, tortured in goddamn Syria, and returned to Canada with barely an apology at all, well... you oughtta be. Habeas Corpus has been a right of free persons since 1300, give or take, and it has survived a Civil War*, a Revolutionary War, two World Wars and a Cold War here in America.
Also, if you're going through airport security, remember not to say or write anything that insults Kip Hawley, head of the TSA. What, you think you have rights no matter where you go in America? Silly sheep.
Exercise your liberties while you still have them. Anyone in Congress who hasn't been defending them is getting a message from you in November, one way or another. Vote, you apathetic fuckers, VOTE.
