What do you call baby mutton? Lamb. What do you call baby beef? Veal. What do you call baby sausage?
Linklets!
- Crystal Dew World sounds like a Japanese pop band, but it's actually a collection of great utilities for PCs. Crystal CPUID can help you run your CPU at its maximum intended speed, even if your BIOS won't. It can also teach your CPU to underclock itself when its CPU load is low. Save power, keep your PC cooler, extend your CPU's life... everybody wins!
- the_in_sound is an awesome usergroup with downloadable MP3s of great music. Some of it is hit or miss, but lots of it rocks. Seu George, Blind Melon, Wolf Parade, Charlotte Martin, etc. (Via spinxenator, hon.)
- Naval Research Lab (Monterey) has great hurricane imagery from sensors you may not have seen: WINDSAT, AMSU-B, and SSMI for example (you're probably used to GOES imagery). If you ever wondered why I'm working on a weather satellite, look at the products that NRL offers via NOAA. These are from polar-orbiting satellites, and since polar satellites only last between four and ten years, my satellites need to launch soon to replace the existing ones.
- The fourth-largest city in America is a ghost town. Dig the traffic cameras -- right now it's rush hour on a Friday!
- Totally terrifying story from England. Goddamn! I'm sure glad we seceded when we did... (via Slashdot)
- LOST just started their second season. It's just like Serbian politics: if you think you understand, you haven't been paying attention. Here's a set of postcards that will add to your confusion.
- Tomorrow's Agenda: Going to the National Book Festival and the Small Press Expo. Neil Gaiman's reading at the NBF, and there will be appearances at SPX from John Allison, Jon Rosenberg, and Sam Brown. Their comics are funny, so go read 'em. If you're protesting downtown, look me up or give my cell a call.
