Apparently all that's going to be on Radio 1 when I drive home from work at night this week is "Twilight Twilight Twilight, blah blah blah". (I might have to buy the soundtrack - there's some good music on it, from what Radio 1's been playing!) But anyhoo, as someone who has thus far avoided this franchise, and who feels like there is no use avoiding it any longer, I guess the question is:
Poll Twilight?
I do have the first book in the series in my cupboard, waiting to be read. It just keeps getting relegated because I keep finding more Elizabethan fic to read (even without having read or seen Twilight, I'll take Walsie over Edward any day. Even Puritanical, obsessive Walsie, thank ye.) There seems to be two extreme ends of the spectrum where Twilight is concerned: the mad, OTT fans (mostly girls) who live, eat and worship the saga, and then the critics who abhor the series with a passion, claiming it to be badly written and unoriginal, amongst other things. Makes one a bit wary. I am part of the mad HP fandom, of course, but that one covers all ages and both genders - Twilight appears to be the domain of (mostly) teenage girls.
That aside, I should have more "Mea Culpa" ready to upload soon. I've decided to alter chapter 4 at some point , BTW, and move the St. Bartholomew's massacre to later on in the fic. I think it will actually work a lot better that way. :)
