Everyone in Melbourne is picking up on my accent, it's weird - even in the outback I had some people ask me where I was from! (One guy at William Creek though I was Australian! I mean, really, do I sound like an Aussie? But that is the town with only 5 residents so I guess he doesn't get out much.) I kinda like it though - in England, my accent's quite difficult to pick up because it's not too strong, but apparently I do sound English. Which is good. :)
I've totally wasted today - I just did nothing but wander around and try to do things, but then not quite get anything done, so... yeah. Wasted day. I'm going to stay with my Vietnamese friend from tomorrow for a week then go into another hostel for the rest of my stay - there's a lot of booked-up places unfortunately, with lots of people booked in just for a few days here and there, so getting block bookings is difficult. I might end up at the YHA Metro - they're clean and secure, if nothing else.
Yesterday I went to St. Kilda and walked on the beach, where there are hundreds of jelly fish and a few star fish washed up. I also had a beautiful little cake at a shop on Acland Street before taking a nice, long stroll to Chapel Street and browsing at some of the stores down there for a while.
Today as I said was a wasted day - maybe I'll do something tomorrow. ;) I did pop into the Racing Museum briefly and got some details about a race at Moonee Valley on Saturday because I've never, ever been to see a horse race so I'm looking forward to that. :D Melbourne seems to love its racing, after all, so it should be worthwhile. I just wish I could be here for the big Melbourne Cup!
I do feel a bit under the weather again, though - I've been on a sneezing frenzy for most of today. I need more nice hot tea. And a cuddle would go a long way Geoffrey so come down and give us all one next week - we'll be eternally grateful, you know! :D
