retail therapy

Sunday was one of those days where I really couldn't stay in the house. I was bored, antsy, and didn't feel like staying. I tried to convince Chris to go out with me, but his allergies were killing him and the Benedryl was in full force. So, I headed out on my own.

First stop was to Office Depot to grab some printer paper. They had their printer paper for 50 cents each, but had to wait for the $5 rebate to make it so. Sucks that it wasn't instant, but eh. We don't use printer paper that often, so two reams (the limit) was plenty, :)

After that I made my way to GameStop. Online it says that they were offering an extra $10 for every three games traded in. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the GameStops in the area weren't doing that offer, but instead giving a 50% extra credit per game! Score! $42 in GameStop credit! I used $10 of it to reserve Saints Row: The Third and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. We probably won't be able to get them, but I might as well save a copy for me just in case we're able to. I like the pre-order bonuses if I can get them.

Next stop was PetSmart for kitty litter (boring), and then I went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to grab some stuff to help organize the pantry. I've got to take a few things back, the shelves are much closer together than I thought.

I decided to check in Kirklands since I had my gift cert my brother gave us for Christmas, and I had a coupon. I was surprised to find some really cute fall/Halloween things! I have a lot of Christmas decor that my mother has given me throughout the years from her collection (and her obsessive need to buy multiples of cute holiday items to give to various family members), but not a whole lot of Halloween things. I bought this adorable jack-o-lantern, a set of three ceramic pumpkins, and this ceramic pink owl nightlight that I plan on putting in the nursery! All for under $25! I still have a few cents left on my gift cert! :D

My last two stops were Kohls and Staples. I've had this empty printer toner sitting on my desk for months and no idea what to do with it. Saturday, while I was going through all my unused rewards cards and updating them so I can start using them again, I noticed that Staples gives $2 for each toner you recycle with them! Score! Its only $2, but I got that damn toner off my desk! I was thrilled!

Right next door is Kohls. I had never been in this store, and never really wanted to. I always figured it would be like Ross or Marshalls where everything is disorganized and messy and just nasty. This is where my "privileged biatch" comes out. I don't like to shop at Wal-Mart or places like that because they always feel...unclean. I know their prices are great, but I've always preferred Target just because its much cleaner. Now that I'm going to try and save money with the baby coming, I'll probably be going there more often.

But I digress. I had never been to Kohls before, but I got a card in the mail that was technically a $10 gift cert. I figured I would check it out and maybe find something for the house for $10. As I was walking in, a lady in the parking lot handed me a coupon for 15% off everything. So nice! When I walked in, I was completely shocked. It was nothing at all like I had thought it would be. It was relatively clean and there were some really nice things! I checked out the Women's section and found a decent amount of clothing for some great prices. Its nice to know there's another place I can get clothes close to the house! I then headed to the housewares section because I really didn't want to spend more than the $10. On my way there, I ran into a woman at the job I worked at before my current one. It was great to see her! We briefly caught up and I met her sister, but that was very unexpected to see her. I forgot she actually lived around there. :) In the end I walked out with my first purchase for my Little Girl from the children's section. Its a set of two sundresses for 6m. I figured that was relatively safe since 6 months from her due date will be May. I LOVE the little dresses too. Here's a pic, just because they're too adorable:

I spent 4 hours running around and when I got home, I felt great! The laundry had gotten done, the litter box had been cleaned, the house had been vacuumed, and Chris was making dinner.

I had told Chris I wanted to try and save us some money by attempting to do some normal couponing, and he said that he doesn't think I can do it, but he wants me to prove him wrong. :) We're going to have to stop eating out (fast food lunches are way too easy and they add up), so I'm going to do my best to go through the cook books we got for our wedding and try to start planning meals. The problem is, I'm a HORRIBLE cook. Like, really bad. Maybe I just need some practice. Here's hoping I don't accidentally poison my husband. :)

So, I ended up having a great weekend, despite bad news and hormones.
