I know people on my flist don't really care to read this, so I'm putting it up behind a cut. As much as I would like to stay out of this, I need a moment to sort out my thoughts about it. Anyways...
Okay, first off, I'm really irritated about the whole situation. Seriously. Carson is and will be my favorite character on the show. Paul is a great actor, he plays such a lovable person, and the chemistry between everyone - both the characters and actors - are wonderful. What TPTB was thinking is beyond me.
They had something. The fan response to Carson was so overwhelming that they made him a regular despite what they had originally had in mind. In fact, they loved him so much that in interviews, they ALWAYS talked about what an underdog the character was and they were plesantly surprised at the fan appriciation. Now, as to the reason for taking him away....? I really am at a loss. The only reason I see is personal issues, and that is justifiable.
The whole situation wouldn't peeve me off as much as it does if they weren't replacing him with Jewel. Yes, she was in Firefly, but her show got cancelled. Too bad, so sad. Don't fucking come to mine and think you can get away with it. Did TPTB not realize it was a bad idea when they brough Ben Browder and Lexia over to SG-1? That should have clued them in just a tiny bit.
Don't get me wrong. Jewel is adorable and I liked her in Firefly, the little bit of the movie I watched, but to just throw her in with a cast that has already spent years working together is stupid.
And if they get rid of Carson by having him run off and marry Cadman, I will be even more irritated. At least have him leave because he has to deal with legalities with marrying Rodney. *beams* That would kick much ass...as long as he returns in Season 4. Yay for the first gay couple in Stargate! Wheeeee!!!
Okay, back to being mad.
I'm not going to stop watching the show, but I'm making my thoughts clear. I am not happy one bit about this. I'm hoping this will all clear up soon and find out that what's going on is just a huge surprise to see that he's going to be more of a main at the end.
Cause dear god I will shoot myself if this turns into more of the McKay/Sheppard show. We don't need to add any more fuel to the fire.
I suddenly feel the need to read Carson/Rodney fluff...maybe with Teyla too. Anyone want to write me something? *pleads*
Gods, fandom shit is so not good when your hormones are out of wack.
