Story: Unhappily Ever After {CSI: Gil/Sara}

1. You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin' - Righteous Brothers
You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your lips.
And there's no tenderness like before in your fingertips.
I thought this song fit Gil very nicely. To me, this feels like how Gil knows that their love has faded, and yet there is that small part of him that wishes that it could still work out.
2. One Fine Day - Robbie Williams
Remember when we never struggled through,
a bad time we never had,
a love we never fell into
Their relationship ship seems to be about miscommunication. If it isn't mentioned, it isn't there. I don't seem Gil as the type to make fights, and Sara as one to avoid them. As Sara said on the show, smiling supressed the gag reflex. Smiling through supresses the bad things that are happening.
3. Mad World - Gary Jules
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad,
The dreams in which I'm dieing are the best I've ever had.
Very cliche for fan mixes, but I really think this one goes. The sad and depressing feel to it mirrors the emotions that both Gil and Sara are displaying.
4. Tha Mi Fo Churam/'S Gann Gun Dirich Mi Chaoidh - Keltoi
This is my first of two ethnic songs that I thought fit Gil's personality. I'm not sure about the lyrics, I just thought that the melody worked for the theme of the fic.
5. Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Sometimes I feel I've got to
Runaway
I thought of Sara in this song. Wanting to get away, but unable to. She knows that their love isn't there anymore, and she's declaring it tainted now.
6. Tangled - Maroon 5
Your just an innocent
Helpless victim of a spiders web
And I’m an insect
Going after anything that I can get
Well, the insect mention is very Gil, but the main reason I picked this is because it reminded me of someone starving for love and taking it where he can get it. He saw that Sara cared and took it, but it didn't last. This is a song I have of him declaring his thoughts on that - an apology of sorts to Sara for their falling out.
7. Win Some, Lose Some - Robbie Williams
She said to me when we grow older
Will we still need young love on our shoulders?
Does it just fade away, will we ever know?
This seemed like an appropriate pre-relationship song that foreshadows their future.
8. Vurba (Willow Tree) - Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir
This song is one of my favorites and I really think this is perfect for this fic. Very Grissom, if you ask me. I chose this song because of the title. A Willow Tree is said to symbolize mourning and unlucky love. It is also indicates cycles and rhythms, just as their relationship has done through the years.
9. Through With You - Maroon 5
Can you see me
Floating above your head
As you lay in bed
Thinking about everything
That you did not do
Cause saying I love you
Has nothing to do with meaning it
I could picture Sara sitting at the TV with this song's lyrics playing out in her head. These lyrics just seemed to perfect for the whole story.
