If you keep up with the news, it's kinda hard to miss what has happened to a certain Julian Assange. Julian is an information activist,  world citizen, public enemy, cyber-terrorist, or hyper-journalist, depending on your point of view

Actually, the vast majority of that water cooler chit-chat shows the U.S. Department of State to be highly professional and competent. However, some of the cables also reveal bad behavior on the part of foreign politicians (in one example, a middle-eastern president provided top cover for American Counter-Terrorist assaults, lying to his own parliament by claiming the raids were his actions). More than that, Wikileaks has also exposed corruption an questionable actions in the DoD, the Church of Scientology, Peruvian Politic taking illegal Oil Company deals, and Icelandic Banks making large loans to the bank owners.
I personally think that this stuff will outgrow Julian, as he's just a temporary media figure (and the publicity must irk the Wikileaks team). When these technology focused whistle blowing teams start to expose internally unacceptable Russian or Chinese political corruption, then the game might really change. I suspect the FSB or PRC might be more inclined to play hardball. The problem with the UK or USA playing hardball is that it will eventually come out as a leak, and we really kinda try not to be police states.
