Yet Another Reason I Love Mac

Jun 07, 2011 13:11

Lion will be released in July, and I'm looking forward to it. They're ditching the paid Mobile Me accounts and giving it free to all users, which makes me gleefully happy. I paid for it prior to this because it's incredibly useful to be able to juggle multiple calendars and sets of contacts on all my devices; now that it's free, it's just bonus.

But, the biggest squee I've had:

"When you purchase Lion from the Mac App Store, you can install it on all your authorized Mac computers. Just sign in to the Mac App Store from each Mac and download Lion from the Purchases list."

I was so used to Windows upgrades, and versions. If you want the best version of Windows, you get to pay $229 to upgrade EACH of your computers (a grand total of $687 for me). If you want to skip some of the nice stuff, you can pay $179 for a lower-end version ($537 total), or only $129 for the bare-bones version ($387 total).

Lion comes in one version that includes everything. There's no suck-ass version. And, it's $30 for the upgrade. For ALL the computers (up to five) that you've authorized on your account. That means that for me to to upgrade my iMac, my MacBook Pro and my MacBook Air will be... $30 total.

Fuck you, Bill Gates. :)

fuck yeah!, score!, cool stuff
