I'm getting sick of bank bullshit.
Last week, I noticed some withdrawals coming out of my checking account for a life insurance policy that belongs to D.
We used to have joint accounts for everything - checking, savings, mortgage, credit cards, etc. When the house sold, we closed down all the joint accounts, and opened individual accounts. I also changed my last name (from his to the one I was born with).
As of the end of January, everything that belonged to (not our real names) Dennis and Dylan Roberts became separated into
Dennis Roberts (him)
Dylan Smith (me)
I'm starting to think it was a mistake for us to both stay with the same bank.
D forgot to contact the company he has life insurance with to tell them that our joint account - the account they take their monthly payments from - had been shut down. That means that the insurance company was still processing payments with the old (non-existent) account number.
I used to work at a bank, so I know how these things work. Sometimes, if a payment is processed on a closed account, the bank will simply return it. The other option is to do a manual override, and reroute the payment to an existing account under the same name as the policyholder.
For whatever reason, some numbnuts at the bank decided that 'Insurance premium for Dennis Roberts' should be rerouted to MY account, not D's.
Makes perfect sense, right? Dennis Robert's payment that used to come out of "Dennis and Dylan Roberts" needs to be rerouted to either Dennis Roberts or Dylan Smith's account.
And, they did it four times. To me, that is the epitome of brain damage.
I went into the bank to get this straightened out, and they blamed it on the insurance company. The insurance company has no clue, since they're only using the same information they've always used; it was the bank's error. Anyone who looks up the old/closed account can see that D and I both opened separate accounts, and they can see that the payment was rerouted.
They're still completely baffled as to why the payments were rerouted to MY account, since D has his own accounts with them. They did refund the payments that had come out of my account, but I had to call D to let him know what the fuck had happened, and to expect a call from the insurance company as well as the bank, because he now owes them close to $200.
My visa card is another ball of fun. When I moved at the end of January, I called them to give them my new address. They read it back to confirm it.
Around the beginning of March, I got a call from them, telling me that the credit card statement that they'd mailed had been returned to them, because the address was incorrect - it said 'Apt. 0'.
I told them I'm in Apt. 8. They apologized for the mistake, and said they'd change it.
About two weeks ago, I got another phone call from them to let me know my statement had been returned to them because the address was incorrect. They told me there was NO apartment listed on there at all. It literally said 'Apt '.
I explained to them that I had called them at the end of January, and told them I was in apartment 8. I also explained that I had talked to them once again in March to fix their error, and I told them I was in apartment 8. This was the THIRD communication, and their SECOND fuck up, and could they please get it straight this time??
I got my visa statement yesterday. The address was correct. All is right with the world.
I booked a plane ticket online today using that same visa. About an hour after I booked, I got a call from the travel agency.
They told me that visa had contacted them to tell them my account was suspicious, because I had changed my address three times in the past three months.
Well.
After I managed to contain the furious, obscene rant that wanted to spew forth from my mouth, I managed to explain to the travel agent that I did not change my address three times. I changed it ONCE, and then instructed the visa company to FIX THEIR FUCKING MISTAKE TWICE.
They were pretty understanding. I hung up, and got on the phone with visa, asking them why the fuck they were telling people I had changed my address three times, and that my account was suspicious, when it was THEIR fuck ups that caused everything?
Of course, as always, no one had any answers. They apologized, but if this is the bullshit that's going to occur whenever I try to use my visa card, they can stick it straight up their ass.
Gaaaahhhhh. My hatred for humanity just grows stronger every day.
wtf,
stupid people,
rants
