I thought the way Dean looked at Amara was enthralled, puzzled, mesmerized, almost like under a spell. Kind of peaceful. And that spell wasn’t broken until Sam rushed in to ̶g̶̶e̶̶t̶̶ ̶̶t̶̶h̶̶r̶̶o̶̶w̶̶n̶̶ ̶̶r̶̶i̶̶g̶̶h̶̶t̶̶ ̶̶o̶̶u̶̶t̶̶ ̶̶a̶̶g̶̶a̶̶i̶̶n̶ save everyone.
I saw this same look on Dean’s face in the last montage of the episode, when he was alone at the maps table in the bunker, drinking his whiskey.
Maybe they don’t just save each other, maybe they bring each other peace.
I think she touched him in more ways than just his face.
He definitely wasn’t looking at a girl, or a woman. He was looking at a primordial being, a force of nature, brought into this world because the lock he had been carrying was taken away.
And they’re bound. They’ll always be bound.
(Having said that, her last look at him, just before she abruptly turned around and left, makes me worry that maybe Dean pissed her off when he attacked her and now their bond is already broken...)
