GUESS WHO'S BACK FROM GREECEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE >:O!!

I got back late last night, I was so wiped. But when I woke up this morning, I felt ready for work and everything, so it was cool. I've also uploaded all my pictures (you facebook people can see them here and some pics my brother took here), so it's time to show off.

Roughly 100 pictures under the cuts. SO UNFRIENDLY TO SLOW COMPUTERS.

The view outside the hotel in Athens. We went there first and I absolutely loved it. Parts of the city are pretty run down, but it has a lot of charm and it was so cool.

The theater of Dionysis, around the Acropolis. The Acropolis is this huge hill/mountain that has the Parthanon at the top and a bunch of other ruins & temples around it. We went right when we got to Athens, so it was really hot and I was feeling sorta gross, so my pictures aren't the best.

the view was amazing

The temple of Athena&Nike

The real deal, the Parthanon. Oh. Baby.

I took a ton of landscape shots, because we were up on the tops of huge hills and mountains all the time. Greece is a lot like Arizona weather-wise, which is interesting.

This is an old marketplace they spruced up and it had a little museum inside it. It also had this fat dog laying on the ground right inside LMFAO. It was really interesting; in Athens there were all these stray dogs, but on Crete there were tons of cats. it was so funny.

The Parliment Building. They even have a changing of a guard for this; which you all can see here: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=458878026123&ref=mf

ruins of the temple of zeus

The ports, on the outskirts of town

The Parthanon/Acropolis at sunset

&at night

temple of zeus

and the city itself. we got all this from the rooftop restaurant at our hotel :)

OK SO THIS WAS OUTSIDE THE NEW ACROPOLIS MUSEUM cause you're not allowed to take photos of the stuff inside the museum. However, there were so many cool statues and things that I wish I could. I also left an offering to Athena in classy Bryn Mawr style. Awww yeah. OH THE ONLY THING ABOUT IT I DIDN'T LIKE WAS THE GLASS FLOORS. They did that so you could see the ruins they left in the ground, but i was screaming. It was such a huge, obvious drop and I just jskldf!!

All the churches look kinda like this in Athens. Thankfully we didn't have to go into a lot of them LMFAO.

Though one thing in Athens that I didn't take a picture was the market place. Just rows and rows of butchers, cutting up lambs, pigs, and rabbits from their backyard right in front of you and fish they caught that day. The whole place reeked but it was so big and busy it was cool at the same time?? IDK I LIKE THOSE WEIRD THINGS. But not so much the lamb heads and pigs feet everywhere.
didn't really need to see that.

We got this really cool taxi driver to drive us out of Athens to see the Temple of Poseidon, which is what you see here. It was such a cool place, there weren't that many people and the view up at the top of this cliff was amazing.

That lil building is where we got dinner that night. All the food in Greece was amazing, I ate so much. It surprised me though - it's not a lot of seafood, but more pork and lamb. The stuff is really hot and heavy too, which is weird when you're sitting in a 100 degree summer. At least to me.

Tortoise! I saw a couple of them around Athens it was funny.

Graffiti from the 1890's LMFAO

sunset :)

our resort was really awesome. it was right next to the beach, had a bunch of pools, and actually had some nice scenery. The downside was that the food wasn't too hot, and that there wasn't much else to do but relax around the pool&beach. oh and my parents thought it was cool to try and wake me up every morning at 8am??? HELLO THIS IS THE BEACH PART OF MY VACATION I WANT TO RELAX. However; there was plenty of chances for me to watch the world cup. a+ :)

I JUST LOVE THIS LANTERN IDK WHY

the beach was so nice guys. It got boring but god I'm so tan now because of it :>

;F,A;,FALMFAO THIS MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD

Crete is so pretty, just tons of open fields and cute lil villages and churches. THOUGH ONE THING ABOUT GREECE THAT FREAKED ME OUT: They are balls to the walls about roads. The people in Athens j-walked like crazy, the roads are tiny and poorly marked, the highway is so weird cause slow people drive on the shoulder, and then people will pass you all the time even though most roads in Greece are barely big enough for 2 cars ESPECIALLY in Crete. It's fucking insane when you drive there man.

i know you can't tell in these images but seriously. balls to the walls roads and driving.

There's a lot of old Venetian and Ottoman ruins in Greece too, as seen here.

LMFAO OK THE HOMO SAPIAN MUSEUM I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN. we were just driving through crete, when we saw this on the side of the road. I didn't know if I was gonna pee myself laughing or cry when I saw this, because WHAT.THE.FUCK. this looks like something that should be in north dakota or kentucky, not crete.

there were some cool statues around it though i was like ???

LMDKFA#rnasdklgNF I CAN'T

speechless.

*blasts circle of life*

these nice views really got me, clearly.

WE COME FROM THE MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONFKLDSA
i just hate.

and no, I did not go inside. I just couldn;t....

*wipes memory clean with ocean images*

The Knossos Ruins are old Minoin Ruins, it's a big palace and stuff. The entrance is what you see here, all covered over with a flower bush and tree roots. Those purplely pink flowers grew everywhere in Crete, they're so pretty.

The archeologists who studied this place painted & remodeled somethings here, which I actually did not like at all??? like, no I don't want this, I want to see it as it was left here after thousands of years. don't make it pretty, I know it's not after all that time. I just felt Cheated.

also; would have enjoyed it more if there weren't literally a thousand people there. Holy shit it was the most annoying thing in the world.

this was cool though.

&this

*slaps down people*

Chania (pronounced: Han-yah)! Finally! This is the big lighthouse by the port. The hotel we got was really small, and the showers were awful. My dad and my brother threw a shit fit about it, cause they thought it was too small and shitty, especially coming here right after our big resort room. There wasn't any parking so my dad was complaining so much it was fucking annoying. My dad's complaining is the worst, it just grates on your nerves. Thankfully, that first day we got pizza at a great Italian place and everyone felt better. I thought the room was nice, even if breakfast was small it was all I needed. The hotel was in Old Town, so everything there was so sweet. I could see myself living in a place like that, the buildings were old and sorta run down, but everything inside the buildings was classy (especially the shops) and the people were all nice (even though those cafes by the waterfront were super pushy to the point of completely annoying).

ze port

I think this used to be a mosque?/ it wasn't in use so there's no real way for me to know for sure.

LMAO IDK WHY THIS MADE ME LAUGH BUT THOSE CACTI ARE SO CUTE

We met up with this woman whose the sister of a family friend, and she took us all over the place. The first place were these graves of crete revolution heros, the father & son pair.

obvs this is just the view around the place

can't remember their names though.....

This was a WW2 memorial for people from all over the world that died fighting in Crete.

there was a cute stray puppy that followed us around here too, weird but true.

Ok, sadly I have no pics of the Thessio Gorge or the lil town of Thessio or the place where we got dinner, mainly because it was sunset/nighttime and we spent most of that time in the car. The place we had dinner in Thessio though was so fucking good. I tried goat for the first time, which is a weird meat that tastes like something between lamb&pork. I don't really like it but it's not awful. But everything we ate at that place was so amazing. And for dessert we got complementary shots of Raki and watermelon LMFAO. We also got this dessert where it's pita bread with a bit of cheese inside with thyme honey on the top. IT WAS SO GOOD, but god we ate so much there. I only ate half but i wish i could have eaten the rest :'(
also there was the cutest stray cat LMFAO we threw the bones from our lamb ribs at her and she was like >:o!!!!!!
oh my god though the woman who showed us around was like WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT, the bones are fresh you can just eat them! and me and my parents were like what....
AND SHE JUST
AT THE BONE! LIKE IT WAS NO THING.
i swear i screamed inside like a little girlkjdsf

She's a weird lady but I'm grateful to her for showing us around Chania and Crete.

LMFAO SOMEONE THREW A PRETZEL INTO THE WATER AND ALL THESE FISH WERE JUST DESTROYING IT

speaking of fish the second dinner we had in Chania me & my dad split a bigass fish platter at this really good restaurant called Cafe Ela. We ate squid, cuttlefish, octopus, prawns, a whole white fish that I can't remember the name of, and see those lil fish there eating that pretzel? Greeks love to drop those into tempura like batter and fry them whole. So me and my dad ate a bunch of those - bones and all. But not the heads neither of us can do that LMFAO...

ok so after our adventure to Thessio we went up to Polirinia, which is this teeny tiny town up a mountain that is surrounded by Venetian and Greek ruins. People still live and farm up there, and almost no tourists go there (or at least weren't there when we were), which made it better. I hate going to see something and there are just 3924329057 tourist groups roaming around being loud, it kills the mood so hard.

apparently these old stones used to be bases for war towers. they picked great spots, cause you could legit see everything from up those hills.

another old tower, but this one was so high up we didn't go hiking up there. It was 104 fucking degrees man.

Some asshole made a coin wallet that looks like Cat!Gintoki. SUPERFLAVOR, URYUUNOTME, BACK ME UP ON THIS. IT LOOKS JUST LIKE HIM.

Aaaaand that's it! We spent a good deal of time in airports, and other than our flights TO athens, they were all late. It was so ridiculous, the airport in Chania is so laid back and stuff idk man it was just weird. I hate being in airports & airplanes for long amounts of time it makes me queasy and it kills my appetite. WHATEVER THOUGH I WAS IN GREECE SO IT WAS WORTH IT.

I still have all these pictures on my computer full size (which is like 2000x3000 or some shit for most of them) so if you want any of them in a bigger size I can send them your way. If you want like a scenic background for your computer or some shit.
