223- Yet another meme!

Jul 18, 2008 01:57

Okay, this meme took me fricking forever to finish. xD It doesn't look very time-consuming, but I found that it was. Well, I found this on a random person's journal, so_vayne, if I remember correctly, when I was looking for icons. It is the Top Five Fictional Male Characters meme!

One.

Chris Redfield.
alias, None.
fandom, Resident Evil.
Character Overview
Chris is one of the mainstays in the Resident Evil franchise. He survived the original Spencer Mansion incident, and has really become the unofficial 'leader' of the team fighting against Umbrella. He is also in/mentioned in almost every single game (to my knowledge). He was in the Air Force before becoming a member of the Raccoon City S.T.A.R.S., so he obviously knows how to take care of himself and assume leadership in any given situation. He was there for the beginning of the crusade against Umbrella, and he was there at the end of Umbrella's life. Chris' dedication knows no bounds.
My First Impression
I first saw Chris Redfield when I bought the first Resident Evil game for the PS1 about two or three years ago. He's one of the characters you can play as when you start the game, but since I'm a girl I went for the girl character, Jill Valentine. xD I wasn't too impressed with his live actor in the beginning cut scene, but I thought that it was sweet that he would make sure Jill was safe before taking care of himself (in the REmake, he saves her from the zombie dogs by putting himself in danger so she can get away). He was dorky and had really corny lines, like telling Jill to let him 'play the nice guy' when he's trying to persuade her to go up to the roof and signal the helicopter while he and Barry take care of the monsters that are after them.
Why Our Relationship Might Work
Chris is obviously dedicated, and has a huge sense of responsibility. He takes things very seriously, which definitely appeals to me (as I normally tend to act the same way). He also takes care of the people he cares about to the best of his ability, even when it's going to put him in extreme danger (i.e. going to rescue his sister from the Rockford facility even after hearing that the T-Virus was there as well). I really like the fact that we're both serious about our relationships and don't take things likely, and as the daughter of a former cop I can potentially understand his emotional baggage than some other women.
Why Our Relationship Might Not Work
Chris has an anger problem (it is assumed that this is what got him kicked out of the Air Force), and I honestly don't do well with people getting angry, for any reason. xD I can sympathize and totally understand their side of it, but I don't do well with smoothing down ruffled feathers. Also, he is a little too dedicated to bringing Umbrella down. It seems like this is Chris' purpose in life, and probably the only thing keeping him going at times. He goes traipsing all over the world and constantly puts himself in danger for it, and I don't know if I could handle that all the time. While I'm not necessarily clingy, it would be nice for him to be around every once in a while.
Conclusion
I think Chris and I could have a very nice relationship, once he's finally made his goal. Until that happens, he's probably not going to be focused on relationships. But I think that he and I are well suited, as we both have similar interests and quite a few things in common. But he's definitely not ready for a relationship until he's assured that Umbrella's not going to come back.

Two.

Dean Winchester
alias, None, to my knowledge.
fandom, Supernatural.
Character Overview
Dean is a very interesting character. At first glance, he is smart-alecky, tough, and womanizing. Which is true. But he is also a hunter; one who happens to track down ghosts, demons, and other things that go bump in the night. His mother was killed by a demon when he was four years old, and he has been raised by his father to be a soldier for humanity; one who is capable of taking out every creature that threatens our very existence. He is very dedicated to what he does, and says that he does what he does because his family is so screwed up, that the very least he can do is make sure that doesn't happen to anyone else. And the fact that killing "as many sons of bitches" as he can is so rewarding. He's a rebel, and he's not afraid to go about his own way of getting things done.
My First Impression
Dean is a very lovable character to me. He has a great sarcastic sense of humor, is obviously tough, and really doesn't take sass from anyone. If I was ever in trouble and had something supernatural on my tail, I'd definitely want him to be the one to come save me. He cares very much for his family, and feels that it is his responsibility and his fondest wish to keep everyone together. It's why he was so set on taking Sam away from college, and why he is so dedicated to doing what his father instructs him to do. He's never had a 'normal' life, like Sam had, as he's constantly been on the road, criss-crossing the country, since he was four years old.
Why Our Relationship Might Work
The older Winchester brother needs someone to play off of; someone to make sure he takes things a little too seriously. He also needs someone to banter with. He pretty much needs either someone like his father or someone like his brother, as those are the only relationships he's been able to have as a constant over the years. Personally, I think I'm a little like Sam (who is the more serious of the brothers, more sympathetic, etc). So, the potential for Dean and myself to have a good relationship is there.
Why Our Relationship Might Not Work
Dean's job requirements definitely make having a lasting relationship almost impossible. He's never in one place for too long, and most of his time is spent either driving or taking out something supernatural. As a result, he's limited most of his dating experience to one night stands (and has had a lot of them), which makes him kind of a slut. xD; I hate to say it, but it's true. The fact is, Dean's never been able to experience many lasting relationships outside of his family, and I don't know how he would be able to handle something so 'normal.'
Conclusion
Dean would be an awesome guy to date, if he wasn't on the road all the time. He's charming, cute, funny and can definitely take care of the people he cares about. I would absolutely love to hold on to Dean, but the fact is that it's just not possible. Also, he's technically in Hell at the moment, which can put a damper on any relationship. xD But if he retires from his job and settles down, I'd be all over him in an instant.

Three.

Laguna Loire.
alias, None.
fandom, Final Fantasy VIII.
Character Overview
Laguna is one of the main characters in Final Fantasy VIII. You first meet him when you see him in Squall's "dream," which is really a look at the past. Laguna is very silly and messing up figures of speech and expressions, and at first glance not a very good soldier (he forgets a map, and deserts his mission to go see Julia, if I remember correctly). You learn that he wants to write about the places he's seen and wants to become a journalist, and is in love with the singer Julia. You meet him again back in the present, only now he's the president of Esthar. Squall wonders, with good reason, how someone like Laguna could become president of a country. Over the years Laguna's mellowed out into a more serious character, even though he still retains the quirks that made you love him in the first place.
My First Impression
Ahaha, Laguna's music came on right as I was writing this. xD It's a sign! But anyway, my first impression was that I had no idea what was going on with this guy. He made me laugh, of course, with how awkward and silly he was. It made me so happy when we got to learn more about him as a character and his exploits later in the game, and his part in the ending totally makes me cry every time. His segments are probably the ones I enjoy playing the most whenever I pop in the game, and I love his relationships with Kiros and Ward. I got the sense that they really did love and take care of each other, and they're the kind of people I want to know.
Why Our Relationship Might Work
We both like to travel, which would be a big part of any relationship where he's concerned. I also got the feeling that his close friends were like his family, which is something that I also feel strongly about. Laguna is someone that you would want to have in your life in any capacity, as he definitely has the ability to cheer someone up easily and make people laugh. Those are qualities that I admire in any person, and I definitely want my lover to be able to make me laugh.
Why Our Relationship Might Not Work
To me, it seems that Laguna's one of those people that don't have too many relationships, but the ones that he does have are so meaningful that nothing else can really measure up to them. He "mates for life," in a sense. During the game, you only see him have serious romantic relationships with two women, and he seems more focused on his travels and ruling Esthar once Raine dies. So, unless you're pretty damn incredible and can measure up to both Julia and Raine (which I most assuredly cannot), you're better off admiring him from afar.
Conclusion
Laguna would be a wonderful friend, and if he sets his sights on you, probably the best lover that you would ever have. However, if you're not one of the few people he's expressed having a romantic relationship with, you're pretty much SOL. So in all honesty, it would probably be best if we remained friends.

Four.

Mwu La Fllaga.
alias, The Hawk of Endymion.
fandom, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
Character Overview
At first, Mwu is the cocky and self-assured pilot who comes to the Archangel's rescue when they are trying to escape Heliopolis, eventually joining the ship as a regular crewmember. His motto or tagline is "I'm the one who can make the impossible possible." xD He is a soldier through and through, and has a hard time relating to what civilians are thinking. For example, when he's trying to comfort Kira after one of their many battles between them and the Zala Team, he tells Kira not to feel bad about shooting someone because "It's war! It's either kill first or be killed!" And when the Archangel is assisting the Freedom Fighters after their town has been burned to the ground by the Desert Tiger, he tells Cagalli that the Desert Tiger's forces went too easy; they had been given a 15 minute warning and no one lost his/her life. Not the thing someone who's lost everything wants to hear, even if it is true. Over the course of the series, however, he seems to finally be able to break free of his soldier's mind and become a more sympathetic character. He is very brave and a talented fighter, saving the Archangel on a number of occasions.
My First Impression
I pretty much loved Mwu from the beginning of the series. In fact, it was because of his character that I hung on until around episode four or five, even though I was bored out of my mind by the series at first. I stopped watching after that, and didn't come back until around episode 16 or 17. And it was Mwu's sense of humor and sensibility that made me stay with it. Without him, I would have missed out on a great show.
Why Our Relationship Might Work
This guy knows who he is and what he's about, which is already attractive in itself. I really like a guy who already knows what he wants to do in life and what he has accomplished, and knows that he's good at what he does. Mwu seems like he would need someone stable to come home to at the end of the day, considering how fast life can change on the battlefield. I don't know if this is true, but I like to think that I'm stable enough to be able to handle him He is also very sweet, and uses any means necessary to make sure that the people he sets out to protect are safe.
Why Our Relationship Might Not Work
Mwu is a soldier first, person second. He is so accustomed to battle that it is hard to imagine him being able to live in peace time without there being problems. Again, his profession is one where it is hard to have a long-term relationship, unless the person he's with is able to move around with him to the different bases, or is in the military him/herself. And, of course, there is the potential that he could wind up dead whenever he goes out to fight, which would scare anyone.
Conclusion
If you're into soldiers, Mwu is one of the best. He takes his role as protector very seriously, and is used to putting his life in danger to make sure his comrades, friends, etc. are out of harm's way. That is very attractive in thought, but I'm sure that it's horribly stressful in its application. xD; I don't know if I could handle watching/hearing about him doing that day in and day out. But if he could get over the whole protector thing and the soldier mind thing, he could be fantastically successful at anything he puts his mind to.

Five.

Alva Keel.
alias, None.
fandom, Miracles.
Character Overview
Alva Keel is the man who started Sodalitas Quaerito, an organization dedicated to the research of all things supernatural. He was originally going to become a surgeon like his father, and was pre-med at Cambridge University in England. However, all of that changed when he was a senior in college. Alva heard the voice of his dead mother calling his name on a tape he was using for research. From then on, he dedicated himself to the research of the paranormal. He has been a priest in the Catholic Church and taught Comparative Religions at Harvard. He is quite the intellectual, and his wisdom shows day in and day out as he can figure out things in the cases SQ handles with lightning fast wit and clarity. He acts as an older brother figure to Paul, the protagonist of the series.
My First Impression
I was pretty much in love with Alva the first moment I saw him. He has an air of mystery about him, and as one of the other characters in the show puts it, Alva has "layers within layers." He is endearing in that dorky librarian way, and he's definitely the guy you want to go to when you want to discuss something on an intellectual level. And he still has a ton of mystery surrounding him, as Miracles only lasted 13 episodes! xD So really... the possibilities of what he can do and what his abilities are seem endless.
Why Our Relationship Might Work
To me, Alva desperately needed a romantic relationship in his life. xD He lives and works in the same place (he has a little apartment in the SQ offices), and it's assumed that unless he travels for a case, he never leaves that building. He has always inspired some need in me to want to reach out to him and make sure that all of his needs are taken care of. He is socially awkward at times, but is charming at the same time. I kind of like the idea of helping him with his research and taking care of him, and him making sure of the same thing for me.
Why Our Relationship Might Not Work
Well, I'd say our age difference is a big factor in why it may not work. He was born in 1963, and I was born in 1986; a 23 year age gap is no joke. While it could still happen, I don't know if he would take me as seriously as he would someone closer to his own age. He is also very dedicated to his work, and travels a lot. He is always curious and eager to find out new things about a case, and that means that he would never rest and settle down. But at least he's already realized this; in the one episode where he has a potential romantic relationship blossoming, he tells the woman that there are "some professions that do not share compatibility with a long-term relationship." And his is, unfortunately, one of them.
Conclusion
Out of the five men listed here, I think Alva would be the one I'd be longing to date. He's the one I've been most familiar with (I first saw him in 2003, when Miracles aired), and is probably the closest man I can think of that comes close to what I deem 'perfect': he's smart, self-assured, has a sense of mystery about him, is sexy, and keeps the people that he cares about close to him for life. Despite the ways that our relationship couldn't work, I hope that the ways it could would be enough to convince him.

Yay, it seems like my sister and I are going to have dinner together tomorrow! x3 And apparently, her friend is determined to get her drunk tomorrow night. xD; So we'll see how that goes!

Bawww at work and having to be there an hour earlier tomorrow. D:
