I got more into tennis while writing this fic - before than I had a passing interest in it - so it was Wimbledon mainly, which I managed to watch some of the matches on the telly and during work listened to the BBC's commentary on the radio, which was great because it inspired the commentary in the fic. :)
The story is set in 2010, so it was before Djokovic figured out he could beat Nadal, and in this universe, because he keeps being beaten by Moriarty and Holmes as well he never develops the confidence to get to the top. Federer slips from 3rd to 5th place because his decline has started a little earlier. Again, Holmes and Moriarty have figured out how to beat him. They use his age against him if nothing else.
In terms of points; Moriarty is very close behind Nadal. He's been closing the gap for some time, helped by the fact he won Paris. There's a bit of a gap between Moriarty and Holmes, much to Sherlock's frustration, because he tends to lose to Nadal or Moriarty in particular. Then a much bigger gap to Murray and the people behind.
