You would think going outside in Maui would present you with a pretty lush-green and ocean-blue landscape. In most places, that's true, but this is an industrial area. Muted neutrals, and a street lined with filthy vehicles. The laundromat near the parking area is always full, but for the first time I could smell the chemical-clean scent of detergent, and somehow the subtle scent of the bakery carries across the street.

It's strange how something this simple is enough to raise your spirits. Thursday afternoon, and I feel like a weight I hadn't known I'd carried has finally been lifted.
