Poll Friend vs. Fun.Ugh. I just got around to checking the date of CaliFur. It would HAVE to overlap with the wedding plans of a very old and dear friend of mine. It's his first wedding and they've been together for at least two years...probably three to four. So, I think it's going to last. Thing is...it occurs in a different state. Many more hours of driving then even to FC. One day hard driving up and another back, leaving just one day for the wedding. Flying might be easier. But, probably more expensive. Lodging. Car rental. (Very likely.) A better class of clothes then what I currently own. And, it would put a strain on my remaining days off. But, he has been a very good friend for more years then I can believed have passed. And, I know others are going, too. Getting a co-rider/driver shouldn't be too hard for this. And, the $$$'s.
On the other hand, CaliFur is already pre-paid for. If I pass on that, I lose the small figure already applied towards it. CF would be fun. It's local. Predictable. I could easily use lack of vacation hours, distance and cost as an excuse to get away from the wedding. Vacation I was already planning for. (Just not expecting the two dates to overlap with ironic precision like that.) Granted. It's no FC. And, there is that third fur con that's just starting up in LA. Make a nice substitute and the vacation hours could go there over CF. Then, there's the cost. The con is practically paid for. A fraction of the fuel. Lodging's no problem. But, I feel like I'm cheating a very good friend by dodging to attend this.
Oh, the dilemma...
