So I was just on tumblr. And one of the Junsu blogs I follow has a picture from him and one of the tags is "god".
Just. No.
Ok, let my explain why this bothers me so much. It's probably not for the reason you think. Now, I think it's pretty obvious that I am a gigantic fan of Junsu and absolutely love him to pieces. However, I do not call him a god. He's not a god. He will never be a god. This isn't a matter of religion. I'm truly not a remotely religious person. It's the really the connotation of the word "god". When you think of a god, you think of perfection. Kim Junsu is a mortal man and he IS. NOT. PERFECT.
This really goes back to the problems of Koreans idols and their fan bases. I've watched enough variety shows and interviews to understand the "illusion" pretty well. The job of Korean idols is to be "perfect people". Just looking at the word "idol" shows that. They aren't supposed to date, or show fatigue, or ever have a break. They make one tiny little mistake and all of the sudden the shit hits the fan and fans freak out.
Yes, Junsu is ridiculously attractive and talented, but he's still human. Calling him a god does nothing more than underscore your own ignorance and dellusions. Yes, he does stupid things. If you've been in the fandom for enough time, you should know that. But, you have to accept him for that fact. I honestly can't imagine having to act perfect all the time and experience the stress that not only he, but many other popular Korean idols, must go through every day.
I love Junsu for who he is: a wonderfully talented HUMAN MAN. Not as a god. Frankly, that's a horrible, mislead title that shouldn't be used in any context.
Sorry for the rant guys. That just really got to me.
