GAH this completely broke my heart... I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of Cat and Ned exchanging letters, and that even just from the words they write to each other, you can tell how good they'd be for each other. Even Ned senses it.
Everyone is so in character in this world, Robert is just being Robert, and I love the picture you paint of the twins on the Throne.
And the whole "Catelyn does not dissuade him as he practically courts her" line is one of those scenarios that is so tempting but so painful. There is still so much guilt and anger, but even for all of that they can't help falling into this dance that they know they can never finish. I love these AUs so very, very much, because they are so very REAL - they aren't "soulmates", they aren't being pulled together by fate, they are just two incredibly decent people with so many of the same values and such complimentary personalities, that no matter what situation they find themselves in, they just fit. And for that reason they really can't see themselves as truly belonging anywhere but with each other ever again, even though they know they never can be together in that way.
And I adore some of the details in their sexytiems... Ned feeling as though his hands were to rough for her skin gave me all kinds of feels, and of course him loving on her hair will always be one of my favorite little things about their relationship.

I agree completely and have similar feelz on Ned/Cat - it isn't some sort of "destiny" thing or whatever, it's just two really, really compatible people who were a really great match for one another. Ugh I love them.
"Ned loves my hair" was basically the saddest thing ever so I AM ALWAYS DETERMINED TO MAKE IT NOT SAD. (Except here where it's...kind of sad anyway. XD OOPS.)
