Ch8 Ueda looked over at Junno with worry. Ever since they got back from the hospital Junno had been laying in bed facing the wall. Not a single word had passed his lips and he refused to acknowledge anyone that tried to talk to him. Ueda was at loss at what to do and he really hated that feeling. He hated not being able to help the one person he cared about the most.
“Junno…come on you have to eat something.” He received no response.
Junno wanted Yasuo back. This had to be a dream. There was no way this could be real. Junno closed his eyes tightly and silently prayed. Please let this be a dream. Please! When I open my eyes I’m going to be at home and Yasuo will be in his bed coloring with a smile on his face. But even as he said this he knew it wouldn’t be true. Opening his eyes slowly Junno knew exactly where he was and tears slid silently down his cheeks.
He thought about how Yasuo had said he wanted to come to the castle and how he promised him he would bring him but now that was impossible. He won’t see Yasuo again. He won’t see his smile again. He won’t hear him laugh anymore. He won’t hear his voice calling out his name. He won’t be able to hug him and tell him how much he loves him ever again and that is what hurt him the most. His little brother was gone and nothing would bring him back. His prayers, his tears, his anger, none of that would bring Yasuo back to him. Slowly realization began seeping into Junno’s mind and the tears increased. He felt the bed dip under someone’s weight and turned hugging Ueda tightly.
“He’s gone…He won’t come back.” He sobbed into Ueda’s shirt. He felt Ueda slid his arms around his waist hugging him tightly as he continued to cry. Ueda was the one thing that kept him stable at this moment. Without him Junno didn’t know what he would have done.
“I’m here for you baby. I’ll always be here.” Ueda whispered kissing Junno at the top of his head. “I won’t leave you alone.” That was the last Junno heard before sobs racked his body and the tears completely blurred his eyes. He cried until his body felt exhausted and no more tears came, he had no idea how long he had been crying but slowly exhaustion clouded his mind and slowly everything went black.
Ueda held onto Junno as he slept. Brushing away the hair from the tear soaked cheeks.
“I’m so sorry baby.” He whispered even though Junno couldn’t hear him. “I know I’m not helping in anything but I hate watching you like this. I know it’ll take some time…but I hope I can see that sweet smile of yours again…soon.” He pulled his sleeve over his hand and softly wiped away the tears from Junno’s cheeks.
“I’ll always be with you…besides I have a promise to keep. Do you know what Yasuo said? He asked me to take care of you.” Ueda smiled. “And you know what? I plan to keep that promise.”
The door opened as he finished wiping Junno’s cheeks and Ueda looked behind him to find Ryo standing near the door.
“You need to go to the meeting.” Ryo said from the door.
“I’m busy.”
“They’re all waiting for you.”
“Tell them I won’t be able to make it.
“Your father’s there also.”
Ueda swore and looked down at Junno who was still sleeping.
“I’ll take care of him.” Ryo said walking into the room. Ueda sighed and carefully untangled himself from Junno’s grip. Placing a soft kiss on his nose Ueda got out of the bed and walked to the door.
“Take care of him and don’t leave him alone. If he wakes up call for me immediately. Understood?”
Ryo nodded and sat in the chair next to the bed.
“I got it. I won’t leave him alone.”
Ueda nodded and left the room, feeling uneasy about leaving Junno’s side. He strode into the meeting room and sat in the seat next to his father.
“Well not that my son decided to grace us with his presence let us begin the meeting.”
Ueda ignored his father’s remarks and sat back on his seat, completely ignoring the people around him and blocking their voices. Right now his mind only had one thing it focused on and that was Junno.
The meeting seemed like it would never end and Ueda was about to jump out his seat to leave when the final words were exchanged. Quickly he made his way towards the door and was about to open it when it was suddenly pulled open and he found himself face to face with a worried Ryo. Ueda felt his stomach drop as he looked at Ryo.
“Where’s Junno?”
“I tried to stop him but he panicked when he woke up and you weren’t there. Then he ran out the room calling his brother’s name. I don’t know where he went. I have people searching the castle.”
He knew he should have stayed with Junno. Fuck this stupid meeting. Now he didn’t know where Junno was or what he might be doing and that scared him.
“I’ll go search outside.” He told Ryo.
“Tatsuya where are you going? I need to talk with you.”
“Can this wait father I’m busy right now.” Ueda said desperately.
“Father.” Ueda turned and found his brother behind him.
“I have some things I would like to discuss with you.” Ueda watched his father look between them both before nodding and walking away.
“I saw him running out towards the gardens.” He heard his brother whisper before walking away.
“Thanks…onii-san.” Ueda whispered and turned running towards were he hoped Junno would be.
Reaching the gardens Ueda looked around trying to spot the other man but there was no sign of him anywhere. He continued to walk deeper into the garden passing bushes and searching. Worry was setting into Ueda as he continued to search with no luck.
What if Junno wasn’t here? What if he ran out the castle? Where would he go? Would he be able to find him? What if Junno tried doing something stupid? All these questions ran through Ueda’s head as he continued searching.
He was about to turn and get help when movement caught his attention. Slowly he walked over and felt relief seep into his body as he saw Junno standing near the patch of lilies. He made his way quickly over to the other man and enveloped him in a tight hug.
“Tatsuya…”
“You had me worried.” Ueda said placing a kiss on Junno’s cheek. “I thought I would never find you.”
“Sorry” Junno said wrapping his arms around Ueda. “I don’t know why I ran…I just thought of Yasuo and ran out of the room…I was going to the hospital when…when I remembered…”
They stayed in each other’s arms for a while in silence.
“You know Yasuo loved being outdoors…”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Every time he was feeling better he would always bribed us into taking him outside.”
Junno gave a sad smile that broke Ueda’s heart.
“He loved looking at the sky. He always said that one day he would fly into the sky.”
A tear slid down Junno’s cheek.
“Tatsuya?”
“What?”
Ueda felt Junno’s grip tighten around his waist.
“Do you think he’s flying up there right now…Do you think he’s happy?”
Ueda felt a tear run down his cheek.
“Yeah baby. I think he’s really happy flying up there.”
“Me too.” Junno whispered softly.
