Must I come home?

We just got back from the beach, and let me tell you--it was freakin amazing. After a long and hot drive south to Sihanoukville, we pulled into a little guesthouse on a public beach. The rates were good, and the rooms were decent. From there we drove to Sokha, a nice nice NICE resort. After checking out the prices, it became apparent that our budget wasn't quite large enough for two nights. The solution? We pay out of our own pockets! And it was well worth it. It was a bit strange because it felt like we left Cambodia and ended up in some place more like Hawaii. Wherever we were, it sure didn't feel like Cambodia. Right now I'm in pain because I've had to put a shirt on my back, which is not too far from the color of my car (which is drak red, for those of you who dont know). Everyone now has a nice rosy tint to their cheeks and bodies, well, all except Phillip Hibbs, who apparently neither burns nor tans, despite not wearing sunscreen. I'm grateful for thefact that we were given permission to go in the ocean because otherwise I dont know what I would have done. It was some of the nicest water I've swam in, and the beaches were gorgeous (which probably is a result of the fact that they're private and swept of trash, leaves, sticks, you name it...)

Today at breakfast, Hope asked me what I was looking forward to at the end of this year. This was the point at which I realized I was totally relaxed and not thinking about Portland at all (sorry guys, but thats the truth). I was off in another world of bliss, and so I think I spat out the predicatable "Spend time with my friends, not fail" response. While its not entirely incorrect, I 'm still wondering where all my time here went. If someone were to give virtually any member of this trip the chance to stay just a while longer, I think we would take them up on the offer in a heartbeat. With that, I apologize to those of you who were hoping for a response or e-mail recently. The last time I got on the internet died, and I figured it just wasn't meant to be. I'll be home in a few days--wish me well while I'm still here!
