posted this to my personal tumblr already but for the amount of times i've repeated these stories over the years, it doesn't hurt to have it up on livejournal, too. this was part of a meme i was doing on tumblr

The place where I lived from 2-17 was built on/near an old Indian burial ground. When we first started moving into the place my mom and dad would take turns moving stuff in while the other stayed with me at the apartment. There was a demon or something else really evil there and my mom had to exorcise it. She said it was the scariest experience she ever had. (And she's had a ton of experiences with ghosts.)
Anyway, there were a few other spirits in that house. One that wore a bearskin over his head would stand guard at the foot of the stairs on nights when bad things were happening nearby. There was another that played pranks on my step-dad whenever he and my mom were fighting. There was another that once I was a teenager, tried choking me in my sleep when I slept down in the basement. For awhile my room was down there and I would sleep up on the couch because I was afraid to be down there alone. I got my little sister to sleep down there with me and was fine.
