I just completed a two-day design intensive with Vito Acconci as part of the three week design intensive that I'm taking. It was really cool because he started us with the abstract notion of "shoulder" and then guided us through a process that resulted in each of us creating very unique projects. Somehow, I ended up with another furniture piece. I think that I find it more natural for furniture to have a poetic quality about it because of it's relationship to the body. By the time this summer is over I will have designed seven pieces of furniture. Not too bad. Eight if I count the standing ashtray. I think that I'd like to build three of them but I only have five weeks before school starts. Better get crackin'.
Has anyone heard David Cross' "It's not funny"? It's so funny. I nearly pissed myself I was laughing so hard.
