Sucker punched by reality
I always knew that Christmas would change as we got older, but I never realized how suddenly it would happen.
This year is my older sister's last Christmas with us, at least in the sense of it being the way it has been for the past 20+ years, because next year she will be married and she will have to split her time between our family and Ryan's family.
My brother and his girlfriend have decided to start spending more holidays together, so this Christmas he is going to spend some time with her family and then she is going to spend time with ours.
So now instead of Christmas being the relaxing family holiday it use to be, it has become a stressful task of trying to plan a little bit of time when the whole family will be together. And this year, I'm not so sure that moment exists.
Its sad, especially being one of the younger members of the family, who doesn't have anything but the usual family plans.
