come in on the downbeat

my vacation was wrecked by publishing company in Ft. lauderdale and the odd placement of labor day this year.

j., the best coworker/employee i've had so far (though i still wanted to kill her occasionally) is gone. A. took her place and he's starting from scratch. so my birthday was spent at work, teaching things i knew 10 years ago. next year, i'm having a killer birthday.

Lisa is 768 miles away, trying to help out with Rob, who has 100 staple in his head after being beaten with his own bike and bike chain. he was basically kicked out of the hospital 'cause he has no incurance.
SO i'm spending 8-10 hours a day at work and then coming home to take care of an 11 year kid. I'm exhausted but have to entertain the kid (who is a good kid, but i just need a few hours to myself, away from her).

only this song saves me, as I've listened to it several times a day over the past few days.

the most remarkable thing about coming home to you is the feeling of being in motion again
it's the most extraordinary thing in the world
i have two big hands and a heart pumping blood and a 1967 colt .45 with a busted safety catch
the world shines as i cross the macon county line
going to georgia

the most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway is that it's you
and that you're standing in the doorway
and you smile as you ease the gun from my hand and i'm frozen with joy right where i stand
the world throws its light underneath your hair
forty miles from atlanta, this is nowhere
going to georgia

the world shines as i cross the macon county line
going to georgia

going to geogia, by the mountaingoats
