Wow, I just finished watching The Marine starring John Cena (a professional wrestler).

I. love. this. movie.

"Why?" You ask, "Is it the stunning cinematography, the stirring prose, and thrilling music?"

Um, no.

"Well, could it be the Oscar-worthy acting or the phenomenal special effects?"

Again, wrong.

"Why did you gleefully give up an hour-and-a-half of your life to watch this movie, then?"

For some very simple reasons: every other scene was shot in slow motion, the world he inhabited was populated only by handsome, muscular men and slender ladies, and the protagonist could be shot at at point blank range, be hit in the head with a two-by-four -- repeatedly -- and escape without a scratch. The pieces de resistance, however, were the six -- count 'em -- six major explosions which completely engulfed the hero and through which he walked without singing a single strand of hair. =D

Realism is for wussies! kthxbai

Seriously, though, this was such a fun movie to watch. The group of criminals did provide some legitimate comedic relief and, especially during the numerous explosions, I would crack up for minutes at a time. I just couldn't take it seriously. =P
