Professor McClure sent my recommendation letters for Brooklyn and City College today. From Scotland. There's a very good chance they won't arrive before Brooklyn's app deadline next Wednesday even allowing for the fact that I should be able to walk the application into the admissions office on deadline day and so eliminate mailing time. If the application is late I get put into the rolling admissions pool, or the provisional one, or both -- it was a bit unclear. Damn you, Professor McClure!
And yet...he's so goldarned cute. All 'sorry your references are late; I've been busy singing Gilbert & Sullivan. Do write back and tell me all about spring in New York.' It'd be nice if when I'm flaky and disappointing I could also adorable. Perhaps that can be a goal, a sadly more realistic one than my not being flaky.
So, no point in watching the mail for a few more days. Application not going in until 11th hour and 59th minute, at best. There's time for another round of revisions to my writing sample. Anyone want to be my crack editor? 'Anne, see, right here in the third paragraph, you're clearly on crack. And again throughout the second half of the essay.' I need someone to do that. And by 'that' I actually mean read for clarity, relevance, and general correctness.
