look for our new album in June

The rising young stars of Canada's eclectic rock scene, the lovely lezzy ladies of the new band Wickertwist, were spotted last night at Brooklyn's Cattyshack, proving that they rock just as much off stage as on. Wickertwist, which released its first album, a collaborative project with the popular Slightly Kickin' Martyrs, last September has skyrocketed to a wide Canadian and a growing international acclaim. Many attribute the group's success to honest talent and its refreshingly original (some have said "unclassifiable") sound, which shines through the first album, particulary track nine, "Tribute to India." Others, however, have claimed that it's the band's tortuously intricate, questionably moral, and shamelessly publicized internal sexual dynamics, which one fan has described as "better than anything they get up to in Hollywood," that has a nation fascinated. The band's singer, Lara Winters, has another suggestion, which she shared with this reporter after consuming slightly too much Long Island iced tea. "They owe it all to me," said Winters, whose solo albums "Lovely, Luscious, Longing," "Diva Dance," and "Look at Me, I'm a Pop Star" all topped Canada's "Most Purchased by 11- to 13-Year-Old Girls" list when they were released. Lead guitarist, Cary Fraign, described by wary club goers last night as "really hardcore - we mean, like, really," promptly interupted Winters. "Don't listen to the bitch," she said. "She'll never admit they kicked her out of the teenybopper idol club for being a huge dyke. We're all fucking sick of it." Wickertwist hopes the release of its first independent album, Twicker Whist, due out in June, will secure its shaky and controversial stardom. The band has been working hard to make this album a true tour de force and sources close to the ladies confirm that the recent night out was much needed and well deserved.

A full account of the clubgoing adventures of Lara, Cary, drummer Eileen Capote, bassist Ze, self-declared "specialist in weird instruments we only use once" Morganna Silk, and the ladies' companion for the evening, singer Dakotah Bridges of the Slightly Kickin' Martyrs, will appear later today when it can be combined with the tale of Wickertwist's planned 'Sunday of Sin,' a tattooing-piercing-hair dying-sex toy purchasing escapade the ladies were overheard discussing last night.
