CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr; Indiana Jones franchise.
In-Game Name: Henry "Indiana" Jones (Jr). Indy works fine too, but don't call him Junior. (Doctor Jones works.)
Age: 36
Gender: Male
Position & Ship (first and second choice for position please):
PASSENGER; Convoy
PASSENGER; Serenity

Appearance:
Indy is, by most standards, a typical human male for his age. He's certainly well built, as he keeps himself in prime physical condition - you can't really go adventuring if you're the sort who gets winded easily - but not exactly weightlifter material. He's simply...well, still in his prime. Or at least hanging on to said prime with every ounce of strength he has.

He keeps his brown hair short, and usually, his face is shaved; however, if he's out in the field for a while, a clean face is one of the first things to go. And that hair is most often covered by a fedora - a keepsake, from years ago. Indiana has become rather attached to it, even for a hat...it's his symbol, in a way, and he's aware of it if only subconsciously. So. The hat stays with him.

When he's on a 'professional' level, he keeps his clothing neat and clean. Suits, jackets - whatever the situation calls for, he has. But when it comes to his field clothing?...that usually stays the same. A leather jacket over a buttoned shirt, some khaki pants with a belt that usually has some pouches attached to it, a pair of sturdy boots, a satchel slung across a shoulder - as well as whip and pistol. These are as much tools to him as what he keeps in the satchel itself, and they're quite valuable to him. Certainly, they could be replaced, but he'd prefer not to lose them in the first place.

All of the field clothing - like him - is worn. Indy's been through no small amount of life, and it shows in his weathered face and features. He holds a few scars - one on his chin, for example, when he was just learning to use a bullwhip - and not all of them are on his skin.

Personality:
Jones will introduce himself as either Doctor Jones or Indiana Jones, or, well, Doctor Indiana Jones. Indy for short. Some of his closer friends call him Henry (usually when they want to annoy him), but very, very few know of the 'Junior' suffix - and those few know better than to call him by it. Indiana does not have a very good relationship with his father, and it shows in how he rarely speaks of him.

It is most definitely worth noting the duality within him - the Professor and the Adventurer, so to speak. Not nearly enough to be as a split personality, but they are two very different sides to the same coin. For example, he strongly believes that the artifacts of the past belong in a museum, rather than lost to time and forgotten; however, he also craves to go out and have the adventures that /find/ these artifacts. He values and respects knowledge, and is quite happy to share his own, and to raise the next generation to hold a respect for it as well. But he isn't quite willing to sit down and let said next generation handle everything, no; there's quite a lot of life in him, and he still has a lot of living to do. "I like doing things, not reading about them."

He doesn't mind writing things, to a point, but if it could be his permanent job to go out and do them, to find them - that would make him happy. But it's not, even though he's called to do so from time to time, which is why he's a part time professor when it's not one of those...other times. And while he may seem cynical at times, or to have a very wry sense of humor - wry as in death jokes - he's not /really/ a jerk. He can most certainly act like one at times, don't get him wrong, and if he believes he's in the right he will not back down!...or his backing down will only be so that he can accomplish what he thinks he needs to, anyway.

Indiana also holds a strong sense of honor and compassion; while he doesn't mind throwing punches or defending himself, he does mind just leaving someone - even an enemy - to die. Frankly, like artifacts belong in museums...criminals belong in jail. Let them rot for life, rather than die. He won't necessarily beat himself up over it if they die, but if it's up to him...well, there's very, very little that will make him willing to kill someone in cold blood. In the middle of a fight for his life is different. Cold blood...well...

...he doesn't really like cold blood. Or a certain cold blooded species known as 'Serpentes'; Snakes.

Abilities/Weapons:
Indiana's greatest attribute is easily his mind. His knowledge. His resourcefulness. He'll see things others don't, and make connections that few realize until he points them out. Whether it be from realizing that there's a pattern to the function of a trap/machine, or that the symbols on the floors/walls actually mean something, or, well, or that as it turns out you're supposed to spell out a name to pass...he may not necessarily remember how that name is spelled unless he's used it a lot - he's a man, he makes mistakes - but he'll figure it out. Eventually.

Physically, Indiana is in excellent shape for a man of his age. He is skilled at unarmed combat, preferring his fists and making use of his environment - or shrugging all that aside and simply pulling out his gun. In addition, he is capable of not only using his whip as a weapon - offensive or defensive - but as a tool in itself, wrapping it around things to pull them to him or him to them.

How well can your character hack?:
Easy things only. While the technology isn't new to him (a few of the other professors at the college have it), it's not his forte, nor too much of his interest. Makes things easier - especially to keep in contact with the college he works at while he's out on a trip - but it only has so much to do with uncovering the past.

Weaknesses:
Put a pretty lady in Indiana's path and he'll notice. Put a pretty lady directly in Indy's path, and make her talk to him, and he will most /definitely/ notice - women are a weakness of his. Certainly, if he's hot on the trail of an artifact it'll take some doing to catch his attention, but once a woman has it...unless they've proven themselves to be nothing but an airhead, he'll most certainly give them the time of day if nothing else. Children, as well, have a special place in his heart, and he will go out of his way to help these two members of the human species if he can. (Other species such as demihumans...well, that depends, but isn't unlikely.)

If you get on his bad side, though, his sarcasm and cynicism can easily turn what could be potential friends and allies off. He doesn't make much of an effort to hide how little he thinks of someone, and while he's not necessarily cruel or aiming to hurt them...that thoughtlessness can strike him like one of the snakes he very much hates. (Speaking of which; major phobia. He Doesn't Like Snakes. He Hates Snakes. Keep them the hell away from him!)

He also only cares so much about danger. He recognizes it and certainly doesn't get in to trouble simply for the *thrill* - it's the idea of uncovering the past and sharing it that motivates him - but it's certainly not going to stop him from doing something he feels he needs to do! Which...may put him in his head, from time to time. And his compassion - his refusal to kill a man in cold blood in all times but that in which he is pushed to his absolute limit - can be turned against him, especially if he's put in a position where it's 'throw down your gun or we shoot the girl'....

History:
Henry Jones Jr. is the son of Anna Jones and...well, Henry Jones Sr.. And while he was still in the crib, he was introduced to who would become his best childhood friend; a puppy named Indiana, from which he found his nickname. His father continued calling him Junior, even at Indy's insistence, and Anna simply smiled at them both.

When Indy was around ten years, his parents took him on a trip around the continent - a trip which would easily shape his future life. They were both interested in history and archeology, and the purpose of the trip was to lecture at many different cities...and through that, Indiana learned of how varied the world could be, and began to wonder all about their histories. And not only that, but what was from the world below! His future looked bright.

But then Anna became ill. And not long after the trip was over, she died. This distanced father and son, to say the least; father barely retreated from his studies, and son...well, son was dragged along for other lectures, but he barely received any attention. He may as well have not been there. But Indiana developed his sense of independence here, and learned on his own terms. Developed the rest of himself on his own terms, as well, occasionally getting in to a bit of trouble.

Such as the time he and a group of friends ran in to some thieves. By now, the adolescent Indiana had already formed his belief that ancient artifacts belonged in museums - not to be bought and sold for people to get rich over. Indiana managed to steal the artifact they had uncovered, but the chase led him in to a traveling circus. In the process, he fell in to a cage of snakes (which triggered his disdain of the reptiles to turn in to a full-blown phobia), as well as picked up a bull whip for the first time to try and fend off a lion.

The chase eventually resulted in him arriving at his father's, trying desperately to get the man's attention...for naught. The law enforcement arrived with the thieves, and Indy was forced to hand over the artifact to the 'rightful owners'. However, the owner of the 'thieves' gave Indy a parting gift - his fedora hat - as well as some sage advice. "You lost today, kid, but that doesn't mean you have to like it."

As Indiana grew further, both hat and advice would stay with him, and shape them in their own ways. But so would the adventures themselves, and the friends - and enemies - he made in the process. As well as a mentor figure he found through his father's work - or perhaps he was the one found. Either way, Professor Ravenwood would help guide Indiana on his schooling, and help him obtain his first degree - archeology - as well as introducing Indiana to a woman.

His daughter, Marion. She, as well, would stay with Indiana, if only on his mind. They had a relationship, and a strong one at that...but Indiana's relationship with her father grew strained as a result of his own father issues, and eventually, he decide it was best to simply cut it all off. Indiana took a teaching position in Melior that would take him out of easy contact with the two, and he hoped out of their lives so that they all could start anew.

In this position, he began developing a strong bond with the members of the college - and the nearby museum, who would occasionally hire him to obtain rare artifacts for their collection. Indeed, the curator, Marcus Brody, was one of his best friends - as well as a friend of his father, but then, they all shared similar passions. History. Knowledge. And preserving it for future generations to enjoy and appreciate.

Doctor Indiana Jones currently teaches archeology at one of Melior's top colleges, and has recently finished a second degree of his own in linguists. Of course, he manages to fit in adventures between his teachings, with jobs for the museum that range from simple excavation to delving deep within ruins...the fact that he's made himself a bit of a thorn in the Denouement's side is completely coincidental, but the fact that he is now looking for an airship to carry him to his next job is not.
