Had lunch with grandma, cousin and uncle, and proceeded with latter 2 to find some guitar stuff @ peninsula shoppctr / plaza (turns out nothing @ plaza). There were a whole host of cheap Tshirt shops and guitar, electronic and acoustic/classical and otherwise.
We looked thru 3 shops, and the first one (the biggest and most visually appealing shop) we went to had a (*breathe*) violin that had no bridge and strings which were hanging under the fingerboard and clearly not loosened. When I asked the staff that my uncle was talking to about it , she claimed that the strings were loosened. Fkshit. Turns out she was pretty sarcastic and ill mannered. Another older female staff apparently mentioned that we were a waste of time as my uncle was looking through the collection of picks. Incidentally we ended up being the only customers to actually buy anything within that time period. No names mentioned, but sucky experience haha. The violin had me bristling for a few good minutes.
Next 2 shops were much more friendly and informative. The staff who attended to us were rattling off model names and players (the popular ones) like jimmy hendrick's and guns and roses' guitarist (name forgotten). Apparently their customised guitars in the 2nd shop go for $1-2k or more, depending on the complexity of the requested design. Interesting. They had half painted electric guitar bodies (which i discovered were solid). Also found out about acoustic and classical guitars. The 3rd shop had 1 guy soldering an electric while talking to us. The shop next door was an anime figurine shop lol. We tried their acoustics and picks, and my uncle fell in love with the soft pick haha.
Had swensens icecream x4 after that. = fat.
Dance class! Lucky for timestrapped me it was above Szabo's shop so i made it there in time. Damn blister on right foot. Bras Basah MRT station exit is so near Szabo's (finally a way to YMS). Excess of males (is it me or smt cos Dragon year boosted males in Pharm class to equal gender ratio too) for some reason. We did much more during Quickstep than V Waltz. Anyway, class was pretty crowded, and the first person i saw when I opened the door was literally some kawaii girl who had a bunnybag and looked like a spectator out of a cosfest. Pleasant surprise. Even more pleasant surprise was seeing Weicheng and his gf (kewl rite) but they only doing V Waltz not QS. Talked a while while feeling relieved that i wasn't late (i was according to the clock but =P) and the ppl started coming in.
Theory class! Ballroom dance is categorised into modern and latin, if memory serves rite: Latin includes Chacha, rumba, tango, Jive and smt that sounds Spanish that i couldnt catch and am lazy to search for. Modern includes waltz, quickstep, foxtrot, slow fox ( ithink? didnt catch that) and V waltz.
During pairing I ended up sharing the snb pres with some guy who turned out to be a violinist YY. He went like "ni3 la1 qing2 ar?" then i was like wtf are u from YST (he said he saw my scar) and he showed his faint one. So cool, he was zhenyang's junior (and graduated, not from YST but stats). Anyway dancing with partner was also very interesting experience, and considering i wore no shoes and i think i didnt step on anyone's feet so far i think it was interesting for them also. Dunno if getting the dance pres was luck or no, but definitely having an extra teacher was much better even tho it was for half the time haha.
Quickstep had even fewer females, which turned out ok cos we did more indiv steps (split class into men/guys and women/girls) which meant faster progress. We did the natural turn, [a small] turn (i call it the 3 point turn) and the "crossleg" (argh i forgot the names) which was more than what the other teacher was expecting to teach. Partners were even rarer this round, and i kept screwing up the first part (the feet are supposed to end up in between the other's in the first couple steps) but overall it was ok. YY and I ended up practising (like it was Vln exam tomorrow) until the full time was reached (we ended early for both). QS is damn calf exercise.
Took a few pics of circle line. V for Vendetta is close to finished for me. Nice graphic novel. Intriguing.
