The last words he'd said to her, so plain, so ordinary. Not like you would expect from any of the great romances. It shouldn't be all that surprising, really, theirs wasn’t one that would have fallen under the category of the great romances. Still, had he known, he might have taken the time to think about what he said….make it a little bit more meaningful.

When he looked back on it now, Severus was surprised that his relationship with Olivia even lasted as long as it did. Truth be known, had they both not pledged their loyalty to Voldemort directly out of school, it probably wouldn’t have.

Still, fate has a funny way of working things. Shortly after leaving school, the two of them had become servants to the Dark Lord, and they had stayed together. Oddly enough, over time Severus found that he had even come to care about her.

He had been laying on the bed watching her get ready that evening, and had he had even an inkling of an idea that this was it, then he would have taken the time to engage her in a conversation. Instead, he had just laid there in silence. Looking back, it was a regret he still had to this day, and he wished he could go back and change things.

When she was ready to go, she had sat next to him on the bed, and pressed a kiss to his forehead. “I’ll be home as soon as I can, love.”

“I’ll see you tonight.” Had been his response to her. Just that….’I’ll see you tonight’….no more, no less, just those four, ordinary words. She had squeezed his hand and then... she was gone.

Even now, he didn’t know where she had gone that day. It wasn’t unusual, though, for one of them to leave and the other to not know where they were going. Secrecy was number one priority, after all. It would have been too big of a risk for her to tell him what was happening, or where she would be.

When he had felt his arm burn late that night, and Olivia still had not come home, he knew instictivly something was wrong. Once they had all gathered at the Dark Lord’s side, they had been informed that the attack that night had been a failure, and that there had been Death Eaters killed. Severus quickly and inconspicuously looked around the circle, and his stomach dropped when he saw the empty spot where he knew Olivia should have been.

He decided then, that he couldn’t do this anymore.

So, there you have it, darling. I hope you likes. :)
