Happy Birthday
Friday was my birthday, and it sucked. At midnight I had to call the hospital because my dad was in severe pain. They told me he should come in but since he couldn't walk I had to call an ambulance. Well, I tried to just call the ER and have them come without lights and things because it really wasn't an imminent emergency, my dad just couldn't sit up on his own, let alone stand and try to walk through the house down the stairs and into the car, and they tell me I have to call 911. So I did but I made sure to ask them not to run the lights and sirens because it was now 1 in the morning and I didn't want to wake the neighbors and it wasn't really an emergency. No less then a cop car, firetruck, fire rescue, and ambulance came. They did cater to my request of not running sirens or lights though which was nice. So they got my dad out of the house and I followed in the car. I stayed with him in the ER until 6 am when they decided they needed to admit him to the hospital. I went home, slept for two and a half hours and then got up because he needed his novalog (insulin). I brought it to him, went home, and started to cook. We were having a party today to celebrate my birthday and the 4th. I got to cook all day Thursday while playing nurse to my dad, and then on my birthday I got to finish cooking and haul all the food to my cousins. Once there I had to tell everyone that my dad was in the hospital and that I had to make all the food so if it was bad I was quite sorry and it wasn't my fathers fault. Well, everyone liked the food (at least they said they did) and I was bitched at for not asking anyone to help. I then had a bunch of jello shots and went to see my father. It turns out he had gout in his legs (uric acid which normally passes with urea in urine was going into his fluid vessels and crystallizing, really painful) and a bad arthritis flair up. Good news is that they gave him a pain medication he can actually take (he couldn't before because of his blood thinners, so much as taking an aspirin could cause him to bleed out). He came home today which is good, and he is doing much better, he even has a cain! I just hope kevin did not pass on his birthday curse to me :(
