Ladies' Night - my closest straight friend pulled me to the gathering at a up-stair pub in Central. The ladies are dressed in red for a free entry + 2 free drinks (it's so unfair). Nothing catched my eyes as expected. But there are really many young professionals (some are cute really!) looking for a dating. The environment is crowdy. My cup of tea wasn't there :-(
The booming financial segment
Now many of my old classmates are joing the financial sector now. Many of them are good enough to work in prestigous i-banks. JP Morgans, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, etc. I have heard of a friend saying that his working company, where he's working in the backend IT department, will pay for him 3 months bonus at year-end. For those working as frontline traders, the bonus to pay can be as high as 10 months! What the hell is this world! There is always something to keep one envy of.
In good years, the private sector always pay better. Wish all friends working in the financial firms can share the fruitful year of 2006.
Visiting tour
My department is arranging a 1-day study tour this Friday at Shenzhen to visit the Yantian International Container Terminals and also the Shenzhen Metro. To stimulate our involvement in the visit rather than a sight-seeing event, my boss ask us to compile a post-visit report. I now regret enrolling in the visit.
