Repression
~;~
Twenty-year-old Jae Joong let out a heavy sigh as he stuffed his hands inside his jacket pockets in an attempt to keep himself warm. Inwardly, he cursed himself for forgetting to bring an umbrella with him. He had after all, watched the weather report the night before and he was after all, usually very focused… but for some unknown reason, the thought of it raining that day had totally slipped his mind.
He shook his head. No. He knew why he was so distracted.
Jung Yun Ho.
Jae Joong shook his head furiously and frowned. No. Yun Ho could never be his.
He huffed and dug his hands deeper into his pockets; the stupid rain was getting stronger and the wind wasn’t helping him keep warm either. For some reason, it was as if the whole universe was out to get him, like it wanted him to feel miserable.
“I get the message, you know.” Jae Joong said sourly to no one in particular as he continued to walk forward despite the bad weather, “I know he’s never going to be mine, alright? There’s no need to make me feel worse…”
And further corroborating his theory that the universe had something against him, a car happened to drive by him and over a puddle; and, as seen in movies, the water in the puddle splashed on him, saturating him completely. “Thank you!” he shouted angrily heavenwards while exaggeratedly flailing his arms.
So what if he was jealous of his twin sister who was to be wed to Jung Yun Ho, the man he just so happened to be in love with? It wasn’t as if he was trying to seduce the other man!
So what if he was gay? The world was crawling with them! It wasn’t like he was the only one in the entire universe.
Really, he had no valid idea as to why he was being picked on.
“Jae Mi’s a lucky bastard.” Jae Joong grumbled, kicking the small puddles in front of him. He paused, “Wait, if Jae Mi’s a bastard, that means I’m one, too… never mind.”
The rain poured even harder, soaking Jae Joong to the bone, and he sighed. “I wish it would stop raining for just one second…”
And as if the heavens had heard him, rain stopped pouring on him. “What?” he inquired out loud; it was still raining, he could see it, he could hear it; so why… he looked up and found an umbrella being held over his head. Swiftly, Jae Joong turned and found Yun Ho smiling at him in amusement.
“Hi.” He greeted, and Jae Joong wanted to swoon. His voice was perfect. And it was his first time hearing it, too.
What? Was it really so impossible to fall in love with someone he’d just met the day before?
~;~
One day earlier…
Jae Joong and Jae Mi were peacefully lazing around in their bedroom when a knock on the door made them raise their heads. The door was pushed open and in came their mother, smiling excitedly at them.
“Jae Joong, Jae Mi, get dressed, quick.” She told them, “There are very important guests downstairs waiting to meet you two.”
“Who?” Jae Joong asked, sitting up.
“Don’t ask questions.” Their mother said, a little irritably, and a little excitedly - which was a rather odd combination of emotions. “Just be down in five minutes.” With that, she closed the door and left.
Jae Joong looked at Jae Mi, his twin sister, eyes asking about what their mother was up to. Jae Mi pouted and shrugged her shoulders in response.
“Let’s just get ready anyway, you know how mom is when she gets mad.” Jae Mi answered.
Jae Joong simply nodded and stood up from his bed.

When Jae Joong and Jae Mi went down, they were greeted from afar by the sight of their parents and three other people sitting opposite their parents in the living room.
“Who do you think they are?” Jae Joong whispered to his sister.
She shrugged, “I don’t know. But something tells me mom and dad have been planning things without telling us again…”
Before Jae Joong could even respond, he and Jae Mi were spotted by their mother and were summoned to the living room. Without any further conversation, the twins obediently followed their mother’s orders.
“Jae Joong, Jae Mi, these are the Jungs - your future in-laws.” Their father told them.
And at that moment, Jae Joong, whose eyes were downcast the entire time, shot his head up and widened his eyes in surprise. One of them was to be wed? Quickly he directed his eyes towards the people in front of him:
Old.
Jae Joong’s eyes moved to the next person.
Old.
He moved his eyes to the next person once more, and when he did, Jae Joong couldn’t bring himself to move his eyes away again.
He was exactly his type; the man he had been searching for all this time. He was tall, and Jaejoong could tell just by judging the other’s long legs. His skin was sun kissed, and his eyes were brown and almond shaped. His hair was styled perfectly and cut at right length - and even had a mole above his lip, and Jaejoong always liked that -
At that moment his breath hitched and he swore his heart stopped beating. He was in love and he knew it.
“Hello. I’m Jae Mi, and this is Jae Joong,” Jae Mi spoke for the two of them, seeing as how Jae Joong was too busy ogling the young man in front of them to even bother introducing himself. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“Ah, so Jae Joong is the one who will wed our Yun Ho?” the woman spoke with a smile.
Inwardly, Jae Joong squealed. How often would a guy get engaged to another guy? This was just perfect! It was the happiest day of his life; being engaged to - what was his name again? Yun Ho. What a perfect name. Sure, he wouldn’t be able to bear any children, but they could always-
“Oh, no. The one marrying Yun Ho will be Jae Mi. Jae Joong’s the boy.” Jae Joong’s father explained to Yun Ho’s parents. And as if he’d heard the sound of glass breaking, Jae Joong’s world shattered.
Of course.
Life was not fiction.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” Yun Ho’s mother laughed apologetically, “They look exactly the same, and I always thought that the fairer one would be the girl. I apologize.”
“It’s alright,” Jae Mi smiled, “People think Jae Joong’s the girl most of the time.”
“Well it’s no wonder,” Yun Ho’s father joined in, “His hair is longer than yours, too.”
Laughter filled the room, but Jae Joong, who was brimming with disappointment, could not bring himself to join in their laugher.
~;~
Yun Ho tilted his head slightly, the smile on his lips never fading, “You’re Jae Joong, right?”
Jae Joong smiled and nodded his head slowly. “Mhm…” He was still in a daze. But when the more logical side of his brain berated him for looking like a drug addict who just got stoned, Jae Joong snapped out of his reverie and shook his head violently, “I-I mean, yes. I’m Jae Joong.” He then noticed that the water from his hair splashed onto Yun Ho as a result of his reckless and violent head-shaking, and a blush rose to his cheeks.
“I’m sorry!” Jae Joong apologized, quickly using his hands to wipe off the water on Yun Ho’s face. But clearly he had acted before he thought, because the only thing he had succeeded in doing was wetting Yun Ho’s face even more. “I’m sorry…” Jae Joong whispered as he retracted his wet hands, placing them back inside his jacket pockets - where they belonged, he thought.
“You’re an amusing person, Jae Joong.” Yun Ho chuckled, taking out a handkerchief from his pocket with his free hand and wiping Jae Joong’s face with it, instead of his own. “You’re also really, really wet.”
“I-I know.” Jae Joong stammered. He could feel his face heating up because of Yun Ho’s gesture, and he could also feel his heart trying to pound its way out of his chest.
“Come with me then.” Yun Ho told him, taking hold of his wrist gently and pulling him to follow - in fact; he wasn’t really giving Jae Joong a choice in the matter.
“Where are we going?” Jae Joong asked, finding his voice only after Yun Ho had brought him to his car. Yun Ho opened the door and signaled for him to enter. Jae Joong just stared. “I’m completely soaked, and my shoes are caked with mud. You wouldn’t want me in there.”
Despite what he had said, Yun Ho insisted and effortlessly pushed Jae Joong into the car. He walked over to the other side and entered his car, but not before throwing his umbrella to the back seat. When he closed the door he looked at Jae Joong and smiled, “It’d be better for you to be in here than out there in the rain.”
With that, he started the car, driving towards a direction Jae Joong wasn’t familiar with, “Where are we going?” he asked again.
“To get you cleaned up and dried. The sooner you change out of those clothes, the better.”
“But my house is that way…” Jae Joong said, pointing to the opposite direction.
Yun Ho chuckled and turned left, “And my house is this way.” He replied. Jae Joong looked at him in confusion. “What?” Yun Ho grinned, eyes drifting to Jae Joong for a moment before looking back at the road, “If I take you home looking like that, what would your parents say?”
~;~
“You… have a nice house.” Jae Joong practically whispered. It was the only thing he could say due to the lack of having nothing better to say to Yun Ho. It wasn’t a lie, though. Yun Ho’s house was nice - like it popped out of some sort of magazine; in fact, nice was an understatement.
Yun Ho shrugged his shoulders, “I guess.” He then took hold of the smaller man’s hand and brought him someplace else, “But I like yours more. It’s quaint.”
“If by quiant you mean poor, then yes. It’s quaint.” Jae Joong frowned and Yun Ho chuckled.
“I don’t think your house looks poor.” Yun Ho said in a voice Jae Joong found incredibly sexy and attractive. A blush rose to Jae Joong’s cheeks for the nth time that day. Yun Ho had barely done anything to him and yet he was already beet red… in a way it made him feel guilty.
Yun Ho was his sister’s fiancé. He shouldn’t have felt giddy over his mere presence.
“Um,” Jae Joong cleared his throat awkwardly in hopes of alleviating the tension between them, “so where are you taking me?” he asked, eyes focused on the hand that was currently being held by the secret love of his life. His face heated up again.
“To my room.” Yun Ho smiled before letting go of Jae Joong’s hand and opened the door in front of them.
“But… but… what are we… what are we going… to do in… your room?” Jae Joong stammered. The mere thought of being alone with Yun Ho in his room made him feel nervous. What if he suddenly lost control of his inhibitions and did something to Yun Ho?
“In case you’ve forgotten, you’re a dripping wet mess.” Yun Ho said whilst moving his hand up and down to prove his point, “You wouldn’t want to catch a disease, would you?”
Jae Joong pursed his lips and shook his head, previous thoughts forgotten. “I guess not.”
“I thought so.” Yun Ho nodded, a satisfied expression on his face. He took Jae Joong’s hand once more and led him into his bedroom. He gestured for Jae Joong to have a seat on his bed, but the latter protested.
“Your bed’s going to get wet.” Jae Joong reasoned, but Yun Ho insisted.
“I was going to have the sheets changed anyway, it’s fine.”
For a moment, Jae Joong hesitated but eventually complied and sat down on Yun Ho’s bed. He watched as Yun Ho made his way to one of his closets, fumbling with whatever was in there and his eyes couldn’t help but trail down to stare at Yun Ho’s ass - Jae Joong noted in slight amusement that the taller man had none.
Jae Joong licked his lips and swallowed the huge lump in his throat. Despite Yun Ho’s lack of ass, his back view was nice to ogle.
“Kim Jae Joong, were you just checking my ass out?” Yun Ho inquired jokingly as he turned on his heel to face the aforementioned man, bringing back with him some clothes he took from his closet.
“No.” Jae Joong was quick to deny, turning his head to the side to avoid Yun Ho’s gaze, “I wasn’t.”
“Relax, I was joking.” Yun Ho chuckled, walking closer to Jae Joong and sitting down beside him on his bed. Seeing as Jae Joong wasn’t looking at him still, he reached his hand out to take hold of the latter’s chin and slowly made Jae Joong face him.
And after that it was just silence, and there was a strange lack of movement. As if the world had suddenly frozen.
For nearly ten seconds the two of them stayed in the same position - Yun Ho holding on to Jae Joong’s chin, and Jae Joong awkwardly bending slightly forward. They stared into each other’s eyes, and the longing Jae Joong felt inside seemed to be growing stronger and stronger.
“Ahem,” Yun Ho cleared his throat awkwardly and let go of Jae Joong’s chin, “I got you these, by the way.” He handed the clothes he had brought with him to Jae Joong, “They’re a bit small for me, but I think it’d fit you.”
Jae Joong shook his head and fluttered his eyes, snapping out of the daze he had just been in. Choppily, he accepted the clothes Yun Ho offered him and bowed his head slightly in gratitude, “Th-thank you.”
“The bathroom’s right there.” Yun Ho pointed forward to a room Jae Joong hadn’t noticed earlier. “Go take a shower.”
“Okay.” Jae Joong practically whispered as he quickly stood up from where he was seated and rushed to the bathroom to escape the one-sided sexual tension in the room.
~;~
Jae Joong leaned against the door the moment he had closed it, hand clutching his chest tightly in the hope of slowing down the rapid beating of his heart. As he replayed the last five minutes in his head all over again, a blush inevitably made its way to his cheeks. He knew his feelings were wrong. Yun Ho was engaged - his fiancée being his own twin sister, Jae Mi. “But I can’t help it…” Jae Joong whispered to himself, slowly sliding down against the door.
He didn’t even know why his feelings for Yun Ho were so strong, considering he had only just met him for the first time the day before, but he just did. He carded a hand through his hair and sighed heavily.
Perhaps a quick shower would help alleviate the tension.
~;~
Yun Ho had his arms and legs sprawled across his bed as he stared blankly at the ceiling above him. In his mind ran many thoughts, thoughts so numerous that he couldn’t keep up with all of them; and just as he was about to, he heard a loud thump coming from the bathroom. “Jae Joong.” He mumbled worriedly to himself before hurriedly getting up from his bed and rushing to the bathroom.
He was about to knock, when he realized that it was his bathroom and that if ever something horrible happened to Jae Joong in there, it would be stupid to knock, so he retracted his hand and swiftly opened the door, “Jae Joong, are you okay?!” he shouted as soon as he entered, only to find a half-naked Jae Joong hopelessly tangled in the shower curtains.
Yun Ho resisted the urge to smile when he took in the sight before him. Being the gentleman that he was, Yun Ho meandered over to Jae Joong and disentangled the latter from the shower curtains. “Are you okay?” he repeated, gently this time.
“Mm…” Jae Joong nodded, still a bit frazzled from the fall - he was lucky the shower curtains had been there to catch him, though.
“Let me examine you for any injuries, just in case.” Yun Ho found himself saying, and Jae Joong didn’t really protest when he felt the taller male’s big hands roam around his naked torso in search for any possible injury. “I don’t really see any bruises…” Yun Ho said, and Jae Joong felt the other’s hands stop.
“That’s good then, I guess…” Jae Joong laughed awkwardly, and almost didn’t notice that practically the entire time, Yun Ho’s eyes had been fixated on his plump, wet lips. He swallowed thickly in his throat at the realization, and couldn’t help but stare back at Yun Ho’s own pair of lips.
“Jae Joong…” Yun Ho spoke again, and this time, Jae Joong couldn’t contain his inhibitions any longer. Grabbing Yun Ho’s shirt by the collar, he pulled the other forcefully closer to him before smashing his lips against Yun Ho’s in a heated kiss.
Yun Ho was quick to reciprocate Jae Joong’s gesture as he hungrily mauled the smaller man’s lips, fisting his hair whilst forcefully pushing him up against the bathroom wall. Jae Joong moaned into Yun Ho’s mouth as they continued to devour each other’s faces like they’d been starving for it for decades.
Yun Ho eventually broke away from their kiss and began licking his way down Jae Joong’s jaw line, and it was only then that Jae Joong finally realized that what he was doing was wrong; not only because Yun Ho was an engaged man, but because Yun Ho was a man engaged to his twin sister.
With all the willpower he could muster, Jae Joong pushed Yun Ho’s body off of his and made his way to leave, but he soon felt a hand grip onto his wrist before he could even take a few steps away. “Don’t go,” he heard Yun Ho say, “It’s not what you think.”
“But you’re engaged to Jae Mi, and I… we…”
“I’m not engaged to her.” Those words stopped Jae Joong dead in his tracks. His eyes dilated, and he quickly turned to face Yun Ho, “What do you mean you’re not engaged to her?”
“I mean…” Yun Ho began but paused, “Can we talk elsewhere? I feel a bit uncomfortable talking inside the bathroom for some reason.”
“Okay.” Jae Joong nodded, and was led outside of the bathroom and into Yun Ho’s bedroom, where they had been sitting on before the whole bathroom incident. Once there, Yun Ho took hold of Jae Joong’s hands and continued from where he had stopped, “I was never really engaged to your sister…”
Jae Joong blinked twice, slowly taking in the words that had just escaped from Yun Ho’s lips.
“Our parents arranged a marriage between you and me. Their plan was to get you to fill in for Jae Mi on the day of our wedding and then…” Yun Ho bit his lip, lowering his head, “Tell you the news after.”
“Oh…” Jae Joong mumbled, expression growing blank.
“You…you can call it off if you like.” Yun Ho said halfheartedly, “I would totally understand if you didn’t want to have anything to do with me after what I had just told you… after all, a marriage based upon lies and deception wouldn’t last and-“ Jae Joong smiled and pulled Yunho closer, effectively silencing him with a kiss; a much more innocent one compared to their kiss earlier.
When Jae Joong pulled away, it amused him to see a flustered expression settling on Yun Ho’s face; it was a huge contrast to the look on Yun Ho’s face earlier, and it was as if their roles had switched. “I don’t want to call it off.”
“I was hoping you’d say that.” Yun Ho admitted, wrapping his arms around Jae Joong’s waist, which, he just realized, was still naked. He licked his lips and looked at Jae Joong, a sly grin tugging at the corner of his lips. “I know that our honeymoon is still months away…” Yun Ho murmured as he leaned closer to Jae Joong, his breath ghosting against the skin of the shorter man’s neck.
He closed the distance between their bodies completely and nibbled lightly at the pale expanse of skin, “But since I’ve given the whole plan away…do you feel like practicing for our honeymoon?”
Jae Joong groaned and carded his hand through Yun Ho’s hair, “Do you honestly think I’d say no to you?”
“I just wanted to be polite.” Yun Ho said with a laugh before he quickly yet gently pushed Jae Joong down onto the bed, “And I’m happy you don’t have any objections, because I’ve been dying for us to start.”
