Goddamn Sexbys

We have had an incident of bubonic plague from the charming 17th century couple. If any of you were awake for that lecture back in Med School when they were talking about historical disease that was pretty much irradicated by the introduction of penicillin? Yeah, it's that one.
[He sighs. He failed at saving Sexby's life and is taking it very personally. He hides his emotions in his work and details a very clinical report of what went down. He's not using their names on purpose.]
When I got there they were already dead and showing clear signs of the bacterial infection. The woman was long passed, with signs of respiratory failure. Resussitation was attempted on the male but it he was too late. I don't know the protocol for such matters are here or what's been done in the past, but here's how I would manage it. Persons that have been in contact with the couple should be notified and started on prophylactic treatment in a quarrantined zone. I'd also advise vaccinations for the rest of the barge but I vaguely remember it being effective but causing some side effects. Most importantly we should not overinform the population as that may cause a panic in the less informed. But, we should confirm what has happened and then reinforce that this is a very treatable condition, that for some reason the male patient did not understand.
...I'm probably going to need a line of streptomycin, chloramphenicol and tetracycline prophylaxis as well.

ooc: Okay I have to leave the rest of what happened to the other infirmary wardens because I'm a little busy today and tomorrow. But Jack found the Sexby's... tried mouth to mouth with Sexby so he's exposed to the infection but with antibiotics won't be a carrier. I need to leave it to one of you guys to tell the rest of the barge and then we can all start wearing masks and have fun quarrantine time yay!
