First, I thought it was cool - I mean, what's wrong with being concerned with being honest and loyal. Then I quickly remembered that in "Sense and Sensibility," Elinor ends up with the wussy Edward Ferrars. ZOMG! The man made a naive promise when he was a schoolboy, but as an adult, instead of admitting he was wrong and ending the engagement, he continued to hold to a youthful promise that would have brought pain to his "fiancee" (by giving her a husband who didn't love her any longer), pain to himself, and pain to the woman he now loved. Talk about impractical and insensible! My inner Lizzy Bennet would wallop Ferrars before marrying him. Urk! Get off the wrong bus, Ferrars! And don't even mention Mr. Collins to me... grr...
